The Question Mark Butterfly relaxing on our peppers. Can you tell it's supposed to resemble a dead leaf when it's wings are up? There's also a marking on its underside that gives it the name Question Mark, can you spot it?

The process of dehydrating peppers, pictured is the beautiful Tangerine T. S. (search our FB page for more info about those). The peppers are washed then de-stemmed, de-seeded, and de-hydrated to become de-licious 😅 remember to always wear nitrile gloves when processing hot peppers, nobody likes 🔥pepper🔥hands🔥 drying is a perfect way to preserve the bounty of summer and these beauties will eventually end up in one of our custom homegrown spice blends.

Heads up to our SE gardener's, in 2 days we've found recently hatched army worm egg casings with tons of the little munchers 😱 I'm sure there's more we missed, but keep an eye out and use Bt to manage the population. These guys love a good meal of peppers and tomatoes 🐿️
A sweet young artist named Isla came by to show her soft pastel drawings she made of our peppers. It is so nice to connect with the Tuscaloosa community and we love her artistic appreciation of our beautiful peppers! Being able to sell at the Tuscaloosa Rivermarket has been so rewarding in so many ways this year ☺️🥲

The Fantomas multicolor pepper y'all!! These seeds were sent to me from Spain, shout again to the pepper lovers community! They have put on a beautiful showing of dark purple pods that ripen towards peach/pink. A real stunner with maybe a Tabasco/cayenne heat and slight smokiness. Almost as tasty as it looks!

The City of Tuscaloosa announced on Wednesday that the Tuscaloosa Farmers Market has once again been voted Best Farmers Market in Alabama.
Scotch bonnet (MOA?) as a predator slowly approaches 🐱 MOA stands for Jamaican Ministry of Agriculture and a lot of seed dealers claim it, but I've seen all sorts of shapes and sizes of stuff labeled as MOA. I got these seeds from a guy on Facebook who had really good looking bonnets that he had grown from seeds he had gotten from a Jamaican guy 10+ years ago and had been growing and selecting ever since. I'm happy with how these turned out for us! They got an awesome bonnet shape, great flavor, meaty with crunch, always glad when the pepper lovers community is willing to share the love!
We're working on some new fall plants for y'all, dill, cilantro, tarragon, sage, chives and oregano (wild zaatar). They're still young but should be available in the coming weeks. Even though it is 105 degrees, it feels like spring all over again 🥹

The mystery and power of unintentional crosses and pepper genetics. Two aji fantasy seed sources, 4 different phenotypes. It's no wonder there's new pepper strains all the time 🤯 even the ones that have a similar morphology ripen to different colors 🤯

Same pepper, different expression. Today's pepper profile is of the Murupi (capsicum chinense) pepper. We've been growing this pepper for a few years now and this year we had a surprise color variation and now have red and chocolate Murupi's! This pepper hails from Brazil with a fruity tropical flavor that is very tasty in hot sauces, salsa, curries, and pickling, and comes in at 100,000-350,000 SHU (around habanero level heat). Come out this weekend to the Tuscaloosa River Market to come taste some for yourselves!
