For those that do not know, Willow hasn’t been doing well the last week or so. We still do not know what is wrong. Because of this BCC will not be taking new clients. We also will be rescheduling those that currently have training scheduled with us.

We will post when we are ready to schedule new clients💙

As a dog trainer I get asked a lot, what breed is the best? I could have all the breeds in the world, and I will forever say Golden Retriever.

Loyal, loving, positive energy. The ”anything for my human..until another human calls my name” personality. The “I’ll sit with you while you cry” type of love. The “ let me walk myself while I strut my stuff” type of goofiness.

We said goodbye to our heart dog today. From being my surprise birthday gift to sitting next to mom during hospice. You did good💙

Happy National Labrador Retriever Day!

Labradors are a very popular breed for service work because of their common treats that make them friendly, energetic, people oriented, and generally willingness to please.

Puppies are not a clean slate that you can mold into anything you want. Training does not change a dog's natural temperament.

For a service dog, you are looking for a bold, confident, people oriented dog that is eager to learn and please. We want s***k!

How did I become a trainer?

For those that don’t know me, I was going to school to get a degree in psychology. About half way through, my mom went into hospice. So I’m order to be with family, I left school. People used to joke how much time I spent sitting at Starbucks in my hometown. What was I doing?

Teaching myself how to train dogs. From basic obedience to dog behavior. I began to volunteer with a service dog nonprofit to learn even more.

Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if my mom never had cancer and I finished my degree. Would I be working in a hospital? Would my family still be close? Would I have to work my ass off? Would I training dogs?

I went from being the girl with 0 confidence, anxiety issues, never spoke in front of groups of people to teaching hundreds of dogs and working with some of the best people.

I’ve lost a lot in life, but I’ve also gained more than I could ever imagine💙
