‼️RESCUED‼️ A Mama and Her Puppies Left to Die in the Woods

We were called to a heartbreaking scene—an abandoned house deep in the woods, garbage everywhere, and a mama dog and her 6 remaining puppies clinging to life. By the time help arrived, only 6 out of 9 babies were still alive. She had been left there to die… like trash.

We believe she was dumped, as this spot is known in our area as a dumping ground for unwanted animals. This is Alabama where there are no animal protection laws that work. No justice. No accountability. And no real system to protect the innocent.

It’s shameful. It’s heartbreaking. It’s exhausting. And it makes us look like ignorant, uncaring people—but we know that’s not the whole truth. We know there are good people here. Because when we got the call, we answered. And now we’re asking you to stand with us.

It takes a village to save lives.
We’ve set up an Amazon Wish List with supplies the foster needs to care for this sweet mama and her surviving babies. Every item on the list will ship directly to the foster home.

If you would prefer to donate, you can find all the information you need at www.pawsofdixie.org.

We’re doing everything we can, but Alabama—we have to do better. This is not okay. No animal should suffer like this. Not now. Not ever.

Please help us help them.

We grabbed up the little brown boy too. They seemed to be good friends. Would anyone like to help by fostering him?

Here’s our next litter of pups looking for homes. Mom was a stray taken in by a Good Samaritan. She got pregnant - because she wasn’t spayed and had 9 puppies - 5 died. Mom is a small terrier mix. She’ll be spayed hopefully next week. Babies are 6 weeks old and absolutely precious. 3 girls, 1 boy.

📢URGENT: Special-Needs Kittens Need Loving Homes!

We have four incredible kittens with cerebellar hypoplasia (wobbly kitten syndrome) who are searching for their forever families! ❤️ These babies may be a little unsteady, but they are just as loving, playful, and full of life as any kitten. Special-needs cats adapt beautifully and bring so much joy!

🐾 Wendy & Jack – A bonded pair who love snuggles and playtime.
🐾 Tipsy & Tiny Tim – Two tiny warriors who don’t let anything slow them down!

They don’t need extra medical care, just a home that will love them for who they are. Please, if you can’t adopt, share! These babies deserve a chance at a happy life.

THANK YOU to everyone who donated and sent prayers to this little boy. We couldn’t have done it without you all!

It’s all up hill from here little Neko!

‼️URGENT‼️

📣WHERE’S our BOXER LOVERS❓
Cairo is Out of Time❌

Cairo is 7 years old and has only known one home — one family, one place where he felt safe and loved. Now he’s about to lose everything. His family can no longer keep him, and if he doesn’t find a foster immediately, they will take him to a shelter — a place where we know he will shut down.

Cairo won’t survive the shelter. After a lifetime of love and comfort, the stress and confusion will break his heart — and he may never find a family again.

Cairo is sweet, outgoing and still loves to play with his toys. He’s used to apartment life but would thrive in a home with room to explore and to get more outside time. Please, if you have space in your heart and home, Cairo desperately needs you. Fostering him could save his life. Cairo doesn’t have time to wait — he needs someone now.

Paws of Dixie Animal Rescue can help IF we have a place to temporarily put him.
Please message if you are interested in fostering while we find him a home.
🙏🏼🐶❤️

PUPdaTE - ADOPTED ❤️

🏈 SUPER BOWL SUNDAY – LET’S GET STEVIE A HOME! 🏈

Stevie is the total package—he’s neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and preventions, and great with kids, dogs, and even cats! He’s playful, loving, and would make the perfect MVP (Most Valuable Pup) for your family.

Paws of Dixie Animal Rescue

We are a non-profit organization located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Our mission is to make a difference by rescuing as many homeless and unwanted animals as possible. We focus on rehoming these animals into loving homes, while also striving to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. There are hundreds of animals euthanized daily due to overpopulation in shelters. One of the main issues causing overpopulation of these animals is the lack of spaying and neutering. We need help from our community, volunteers, fosters and adopters. Without you, our work wouldn’t be possible. Please consider helping us or your local animal rescue today!
