✨ Meet Mallow, our sweet Marshmallow ✨

When Mallow first arrived at Metro Animal Shelter, he was scared, shy, and not feeling his best. He spent weeks hiding away, unsure if the world was safe for him. But thanks to the love and patience of his foster mom, this four‑year‑old boy has blossomed into the biggest lover boy you could ever meet. 💕

His foster mom shares:

“Mallow came to me super shy and distant. He hid in his litter box and under my bed for the first month. But now he’s totally come out of his shell—he loves to play all the time, makes himself at home, and is the most loyal cat ever. He can still be timid, but once he knows you’re there to care for him, he’s the best friend you could ask for.”

Please understand that Mallow may be shy at first and could hide in his crate during your visit—but with patience and love, he promises to be the most loyal companion you’ll ever have.

✨🐹 Meet Ghost! 🐹✨

This little guy is as unique as his name—Ghost is a pure white male hamster who does great being held. He’s gentle, sweet, and ready to bring joy to his new family!

👉 Please note: Since our shelter isn’t equipped for exotics, Ghost does not come with food or a cage. Be sure to come prepared with everything he’ll need to settle into his new home.

🐾✨ Meet Erin — our brindle beauty ready for her forever family! ✨🐾

At just 3 ½ months old, Erin (affectionately called “Dixie” in foster) has been thriving in her foster home, learning all the skills that make her the perfect puppy companion. Her foster mom, Grace, shared:

“She’s so cuddly and loves kisses, a very sleepy girl, super smart (knows tricks like sit, lay, paw, high five, stay, spin), squeaky toys are her favorite, great on a leash, so friendly and loves to make new friends!” 💕

Here’s what makes Erin extra special:

• 🐶 Sweet brindle baby with a heart full of love
• 🎓 Already knows multiple tricks — she’s a fast learner!
• 🐾 Walks beautifully on a leash
• 💤 Loves naps and cuddle time
• 🎉 Friendly, social, and always excited to meet new people
• 🏈 A HUGE University of Alabama football fan — she’d love to cheer on the Tide right by your side!

Because her foster mom is a student, Erin will be returning to the shelter for winter break. We’d love to find her forever home before then so she can keep thriving in a family of her own.

✨🐾 Meet Carrie — the sweetest little foster kitten looking for her forever home! 🐾✨

Her foster mom shared:

“She’s about 4 months old and such a little bundle of joy. She’s extremely curious and loves being involved in whatever you’re doing. She’s been exposed to lots of people and different places, and has never been anything but the sweetest to everyone she meets. She’s super playful, especially with toys that make noises or have bells, but also loves to curl up for cozy naps. In the evenings, she’s happiest cuddled on the couch with a blanket on your lap… She’s truly the perfect kitten, and I’d love nothing more than for her to find her forever home before Thanksgiving.” 💛

Carrie (nicknamed “Golem” by her foster mom!) is:

• 🐱 Curious, playful, and outgoing once she settles in
• 💤 A champion napper who loves cozy cuddles
• 📺 Your future binge-watching buddy — she even enjoys TikTok over your shoulder!
• 🍗 A little foodie who might beg for bites of people food

Her foster mom is heading home for Thanksgiving break, so we’d love to find Carrie’s forever family before then.

🐾 Meet Crab Cake (aka Smeagol)! 🐾

This sweet girl has been thriving in her foster home since August, and her foster parent is hoping she’ll find her forever family before Thanksgiving break when she will have to come back to the shelter 💛

✨ What makes Smeagol special:

• Loves cuddles and pets after meals
• Enjoys watching TV and gazing out the window
• Playful with any toy (especially Trader Joe’s bags!)
• Smart—she even knows the command sit!
• Easygoing with harnesses and nail trims (especially if Churu treats are involved)
• A little shy at first, but quickly melts with head scratches

Her foster says: “She genuinely is the best cat and I’d love for her to find a forever home where she’ll be happy.”

❄️ “It’s 32 degrees outside… are your pets inside? Do they have adequate shelter?” ❄️
(Kind of like those old news reminders: “It’s 9 o’clock—do you know where your kids are?”)

What starts as fun and games is actually a serious reminder: when temperatures drop—especially with the wind chill—our pets feel it just like we do. 🐾

👉 Bring them inside whenever possible.
👉 If they must stay outdoors, they need safe, insulated shelter that’s dry, off the ground, and protected from the wind. Fresh, unfrozen water is also a must.

No animal should suffer in the cold. Together, we can make sure every pet in our community is safe, warm, and cared for. 💙

And if your heart (and home) has room to spare, we’d love to see you today! Metro Animal Shelter is open 12–6 PM for adoptions, fostering, and volunteering. Come meet your new best friend—or help us care for the ones still waiting.
