Here's to 2024

There was a lot that happened in 2024, we didn't rope or show as much, but we started construction on the puppy barn, bred a couple mares, had a few foals, our cattle program saw a huge increase in hybrid vigor with bringing in a Brahman bull, our calves look better than ever. Holly had her first litter, we sold Madonna to a fabulous ranch in New Mexico, and Belle won more money in sorting than ever before! I would say over all it was a pretty dang good year!!! Thank you to everyone who has helped us or bought from us this past year. So this week we did something a little different, we left Saturday to bring 6 head of horses to Vegas for some of the best guys you could ever ask to know. We rope with these guys and it is beyond an honor to not only haul but to get to watch these guys compete in the UCR finals! We're finishing up round 2 today! I do believe Madison forgot how much she loves riding a horse that needs some fine tuning. I asked her yesterday if she wanted to crawl on Cheyenne (who only has had 3 rides on her by us) and she was like of course! Lol Madison immediately went into training mode pushing buttons and figuring out what Cheyenne did and didn't know. I just stood there giggling. I do have to say I am incredibly impressed with how well Cheyenne did at the show. She stood tied all day with no fuss, rode around like a champ after the show and we even were able to push some cattle around on her. Since her teeth have been floated and she can move her jaw naturally she has really freed up in her movement! I'm excited to see how this little mare comes along! I do believe she's going to be a good one with the potentially to be a jam up kids horse. #rockindranch #ranchsorting #paintedpony #cheyenne #horse

Teeth are such an important part of horse health care, but most times it's overlooked as we never really physically look inside a horses mouth. Both of these mares were in a lot of pain due to their teeth being in terrible condition. Katie's right side of her mouth was cut up from all the sharp edges on her teeth and had hooks so bad she couldn't chew properly which could be the cause of her not gaining weight. Cheyenne has an over jet that has literally never been addressed in her life and has caused her jaw to literally change to adapt to her overgrown teeth. Both of these girls are saints to have put up with so much pain while still working and riding in the past. When bringing in outside horses the first thing we do is schedule them for dentistry work and chiropractor. Then we power pack and quarantine for 5 days. We will not put a bit in ones mouth until we've had a horse checked and fixed. You never know what might be hiding inside their mouth. #ranchlife #dentistry #horses #rockindranch

This little mare is literally the engine that could. There is not one ounce of quit in her. She's a small package of dynamite and I'm here for it 🤩.
