We love getting these updates!!! If you don't remember Tanzi was Madison's two year old we helped her sell. She's loving her job and takes everything so well! Jared loves her and her easy going attitude. This was her first time roping and dragging calves.

Saw this joke on an Aussie group, it's to good not to share πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

A Doberman, a Poodle and an Australian Shepherd died and are standing in front of God at the entrance to the kingdom of heaven.
God asks them all three, what they believe in?
The Doberman says: "I believe in discipline, training and loyalty to my owner."
"Good," says God, "take a seat on my right side."
"Poodle, what do you believe in?" Asked God.
The Poodle answers: "I believe in love and care from my owner as well as peace in the world."
"Ah," God said, "You can take a seat to my left side."
Then he looked at The Aussie: "And what do you believe in?"
The Aussie stood there, looked at him and answered :
"I believe you're sitting in my seat!"

Benefit RANCH RODEO AND BARREL RACE. November 16th.
When a part of our western community experiences tragedy it is natural to step up with a helping hand. The Bolejack family suffered loss of a child and all their possessions in a fire. Close friends have organized a memorial and benefit for November 16th at the Comanche Rodeo Arena.
We invite all cowboys and cowgirls to participate and all spectators to come join us in this epic event.
See flier for details.

Words cannot express how grateful and thrilled I am at the Rockin D crew today!!! Over all 6 checks pulled. Kitty and Kelsey won first in the draw and 3rd and 6th in the pick. Sissy mare and I came in right behind Kelsey in the draw at second and managed 7th in the pick. Then Belle blew the youth class out of the water with a solid 10 head of cattle and pulled first! She read her cattle really well and was looking ahead to her next move every time. I'm so incredibly proud of everyone on this team. We had an amazing time with some amazing friends and cannot wait for the next one. If you haven't been to a Second Chance cowboy Church sorting yet you don't know what you're missing.

One of the things I love most about the girls is that they are trained to not cross a door threshold unless they are asked. Why is this important? Imagine we lived in town (crazy thought I know) on a busy street and every time we opened the door they immediately tried to run outside. It would only be a matter of time before they ran into the street and were hit by a car. It would be heart breaking. Even while on leash when we come to a door, I make them sit and stay while I cross the threshold first then they are allowed in. It's the little things that matter most.

Kitties n Beer aka Brew
Rabicano sorrel yearling gelding
Rocky Mountain Blues X Thornalena

Rocky has won almost 142k in the cutting pen and Lena has won over 300k in the roping pen. This gelding is bred to do it all; work a cow, rope, ranch versatility. Brew is an easy going gelding that is the complete package. He has looks, brains, and is easy to train. He's already being hauled to town where he stays tied for hours while we rope. He loads and unload out of the trailer with no issues. Loves his baths, isn't spooky or watchy in the slightest. He is a perfect gentleman in every way. He is eligible for the Breeder's Invitational and can be nominated for the NCHA super stakes. Only reason this c**t is available is because he has the wrong plumbing.

CONNECTION VERSUS PROXIMITY

Something I hear from people a lot when they are asking about their horses is "We have a good connection, he's kind of a pocket horse, he follows me everywhere, but..." and they then go on to describe a problem that usually is a result from a lack of connection.

Proximity is not connection.

Clinginess is not connection.

Try not to get connection and physical closeness confused.

Connection is rooted in attunement, which is (as Sarah Schlote of Equusoma: Horse-Human Trauma Recovery puts it) 'the sense of being seen, being heard, feeling felt and getting gotten". It's about them trusting you, trusting you have their best interest at heart, and the feeling of safety you give them when you have proven that you are as aware as the rest of their heard members.

Clinginess is a juvenile behaviour that the mother (and other herd members) allows up until the age of weaning, then they start to work on collision avoidance (a term I picked up reading the works of British ethologist Lucy Rees). Installing collision avoidance is what allows a herd of horses to move safely together at speed like a school of fish or a flock of birds. It's also part of the mental maturation process, and if that process doesn't happen horses tend to retain a that and a lot of other juvenile behaviours.

So beware of the trap of thinking that you have connection because you have constant proximity. It may just be a juvenile behaviour in disguise.

Update Captain - Sold
Clipper - Pending
Harper - Available

We still have these three left to find homes, if Harper doesn't leave trust me it will not hurt my feelings at all. She could stay and make the best working pup. Clipper is the sweetest snuggle bug, while he has his playful side, he definitely loves to cuddle. Captain is definitely going to be a great cow dog, he's driven, gritty and will be a heck of a working dog.
