🐾 PET OF THE WEEK 🐾 Hey folks, I'm Oscar, the 10-year-old senior with the smile and charm you've been looking for! Some may say you shouldn't fall in love based on looks, and well, I can't help that I'm a pretty pup! But once you get to know me, I promise I'm much more than a pretty face.

Since I'm older, I'd much rather lounge around than sprint. My favorite pastime is hanging out front with my current foster family and sitting in the kitchen watching them cook. I also love taking naps throughout the day! I don't fancy walks due to my arthritis, but if you're looking to find a cuddle buddy, then come aboard the cuddle train because I'll be waiting for you with a smile and a tail wag!

One of my quirks, that my foster family discovered about me, is sometimes my barks sound like a walrus or dinosaur. I don't know what they're talking about, but hey, if that makes me more desirable, then call me Wally the Walrus or Terry the T-Rex.

🐾 Happy Tail Tuesday! 🐾 We are so thrilled to hear an update about Bentley!

His family wrote: Our family would like to thank the staff and volunteers who work every day at the shelter. We lost one of our beloved pets a couple of years ago and decided to visit the shelter. Paco was our first adoption from a shelter. We were told a volunteer named Alec worked a lot with Paco, now known as Bentley.

Although he had to deal with some medical issues, he is doing great! We absolutely love him and can tell he was cared for by the volunteers while in the shelter. Thank you especially to Alec. Your hard work has really shown.

🐶 1. Expanded Weekend Viewing Hours: Visit us and meet your new best friend! The shelter will be open daily for Adoption Visits from 11am-5pm, Viewing Hours Monday thru Friday from 2-5pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5pm. 😺

🐕‍🦺 2. Free Virtual Dog Training: Thanks to grant funding from California for All Animals, families who adopt a dog from OC Animal Care will receive a FREE 4-WEEK, virtual training scholarship from GoodPup! 🐕‍🦺 Whether you're a first-time dog parent or an experienced pet owner, don't miss this exciting opportunity to help you and your new pup adjust and thrive.

📅 3. Quarterly Adoption Event: OC Animal Care will host an adoption event each quarter with discounted adoption fees, resource booths for pet owners, and more fun, seasonal activities for the whole family! 🐾 PET OF THE WEEK 🐾 Hi there, friends! My name is Billy Bones, and I'm a two-year-old Boxer mix currently living the good life in a loving foster home. Let me tell you all about myself, and spoiler alert: I’m pretty amazing!

You might assume I'm full of energy because of my Boxer genes, but surprise, I’m a mellow and gentle soul! I’m a shy and timid guy who prefers snuggling on the couch over a game of fetch. Being close to my humans is my favorite thing in the world, and I’ve got a big heart brimming with affection.

I do get super excited for walks and hikes (who wouldn’t?), but my ultimate joy is simply being by your side. My foster parents think I might have a touch of separation anxiety, but really, I’m just a loyal four-legged friend with an endless supply of love to share.

🐾 Happy Tail Tuesday! 🐾 We are so excited to hear an update about Cornelia!

Her mom wrote: Cornelia has been an incredible addition to my life since I adopted her from OC Animal Care on February 4, 2024. From the moment I brought her home, she has been a great companion, always by my side and ready for any adventure. Her affectionate nature and loyal demeanor have brought immense joy and comfort to my daily routine.

One of Cornelia's favorite activities is taking long walks. Whether we are exploring new trails or just strolling through the neighborhood, she is always eager and enthusiastic. Her friendly disposition makes these outings even more enjoyable, as she gets along well with other dogs and humans alike. It's heartwarming to see her interact so positively with everyone she meets, spreading happiness wherever she goes.

Overall, Cornelia has significantly enriched my life. Her companionship, love for long walks, and friendly nature have made her an irreplaceable part of my family. I am grateful every day for the bond we share and the joy she brings into my life.

Our Story

OC Animal Care promotes responsible pet ownership, the health and safety of people and animals and spay/neuter programs. Through public education, community outreach programs and shelter events, OC Animal Care encourages shelter adoption, animal rescue and community involvement through volunteerism. The Animal Care Center provides temporary shelter and medical care for "lost" owned or stray animals and opportunities for adoption of these animals. OC Animal Care also provides pet licensing and patrol services to 18 contract cities and all the unincorporated areas of Orange County. OC Animal Care houses and provides medical care for impounded dogs, cats and exotic animals.
