🐾 PET OF THE WEEK 🐾 Hello everyone, I'm Ghost, your spirited and lively ten-year-old husky! Don't let my name spook you, because I'm here to brighten your days with tons of love and fun! I'm currently in foster with two adult hoomans, a young hooman, and a fur sibling!

Boo-lieve it or not, even us seasoned gals can still pick up a trick or two. How do I master these new tricks, you ask? I'm a major foodie! If you have treats, I'm all ears, eyes, and paws. For example, I used to lead the way on walks, but now I embrace the beauty and companionship by walking next to my foster family! I also perfected "leave it." I think it's my foster mom's favorite words because she's always asking me to "leave it" when someone is at the door or if we see squirrels and lizards during our walks. I must be doing something right because I get treats in return.

As the continues to burn in Orange County, here's an important reminder to plan ahead so you, your family, and your pets are prepared for any disaster.

From a pet-friendly kit to evacuation routes, here are things to consider when preparing your pets for an emergency:
🚗 Develop an evacuation plan that includes at least two different evacuation routes.
🐶To limit a pet’s stress, make sure your pets are trained to enter a crate or cage comfortably.
👜Maintain a go bag for each pet that includes vaccination and other important medical records, medications, food, and essential supplies that your animals need for daily care, etc.
🐴It's particularly important to make considerations for horses and large animals. Evacuating horses takes time and requires special housing arrangements.

❤️ Help foster Micah! ❤️ Micah arrived at OC Animal Care late last year as a puppy, and sadly, he's been growing up in the shelter. Micah came from a hoarding case where he and his siblings were neglected, and while his siblings have all been adopted, Micah is still waiting for his. 💕

But we have hope! Micah has made incredible progress during his time here. He's learned to walk on leash and he's slowly blossoming into a social butterfly. 🦋 Micah just needs a little extra help to shine.
