During your consultation with us, we’ll let you know if your pet needs to fast for their appointment. Since many diagnostic procedures require sedation, we may ask that you withhold food after 9:00 p.m. the evening before. Your pet may still have access to water. Degenerative joint disease (DJD) refers to what is more commonly known as arthritis or osteoarthritis. When joint cartilage isn’t sufficient, arthritis begins to form, therefore significantly impacting your pet’s mobility. Common amongst dogs, symptoms include stiffness, lameness, decrease in activity, difficulty getting up, reluctance to jump, and difficulty navigating stairs and steps.
