Phoenix (Princess P as she is known on the field) is a free agent looking to get her big break with a new team! She was on a four year contract with her first team but after some turmoil between the team owners the franchise was closed down and she was forced into free agency. The last 10 month she has been patiently awaiting a team that will see her potential. She knows basic plays and is quick to learn new ones. When this girl gets passed the ball she has the intelligence and the zoomie power to make the play happen. Although she is very energetic when she is on the field she also has a very strict nap schedule.

She has become a little bit of a princess in her career so she would like a team that can make her feel special and provide her comfort. She has requested to go to a team where she will get lots of play time and coaches who know how to follow the game rules.

She is looking forward to completing training camp and then will be hoping to find a team for the following 2024 season

Thanks Ashley Holthus for the scouting report!

A few miles south west of the city of Gooding is where some property owners found this scared guy. After calling dispatch and not getting any help they reached out to Anythings Pawsable Foundation. We quickly trapped him but are left with no place to take him. Gooding Sheriffs Dept. wouldn’t accept him for his legal stray hold to give his owners a chance to find him and local rescues are bursting at the seams with no room. Please share to help find his home!!!

We are assisting the owner in locating Oscar. If you have seen him, please let us know. If you haven’t, please watch out for him. He is loved and wanted home. He went missing and has been seen south of Shoshone Idaho. We are trying to get his locations in order to set a trap. Please let us know of any sightings and don’t approach or call out his name. If you can, watch where he goes and note the date and time. Thank you.

April 21st we were alerted to several huskies presumed dumped by a dairy in Jerome County who contacted PAWS Rescue Inc. Debbie Johnson (PAWS Rescue, Inc) shared the information with us and Dave Wright from Friends Furever Animal Rescue. Dave was able to get a trap out the next day and catch one of the dogs that we took to the shelter. The other dog proved more elusive to the trap. After going 14 miles round trip every day since to replace food and keep the dog in the area, Mary Holley with Anythings Pawsable Foundation decided we needed the “Missy Trap” that we had recently built. Anything’s Pawsable donated the kennel system for this homemade trap to be used for the more elusive and difficult to catch dogs. Richard Jensen perfected the trigger system that uses a motion sensor and battery to trip the pin that drops the door. Mary Patterson-Holley, Richard Jensen, and Staci Jensen set up the trap and gave the dog time to get used to it before setting it to trip yesterday. Mary monitored the game cam and saw the dog investigating the trap several times before finally going far enough into the trap to set it at around midnight. Mary and Staci immediately went out to secure the dog and were able to put the sweet pup in the Jerome Shelter this morning.

On this day of ”Idaho Gives” I hope everyone recognizes all the wonderful groups of people who work so hard to help get animals to safety. We also want to give a shout out to the dairy for asking for help in catching these dogs that had been out there for several months. These 2 dogs are very sweet and we hope there is a caring owner out there looking for them. They are currently at the Jerome Shelter.

Look how beautiful DB Cooper is!!!! Thank you Mystic Paws Grooming in Twin Falls for making this guy shine!!!! He feels so much better without all of those burs and mats after being on his own for so many months. He was so bad that we thought “he”was a “she” and it turns out he’s neutered. We were told he was a perfect boy while getting groomed.

His GPS collar should arrive today. Thank you to everyone for donating to Anything’s Pawsable for the collar. He is assured to never be lost again.

He is under the care of Friends Furever Animal Rescue. Watch their page to see if he becomes available for adoption.

These 3 young husky mixes were found in the middle of the desert west of Balanced Rock. They had supposedly been out there for over a week. They are hungry and very thin. With no animal shelter to accept them, we are grateful that Dave Wright, Friends Furever Animal Rescue, offered to get them into boarding while we search for owners. We would be grateful if donations could be forwarded to Friends Furever Animal Rescue to help with the expenses of care for these dogs so that we are all able to keep picking up dogs from under served communities. Boarding certainly isn’t free. It breaks our hearts to think of the day when we can’t go out to pick up these dogs because there is no place to take them. Shelters are full. Rescues are full. Our homes are full. We are quickly running out of solutions, with only more and more dogs needing help. Thank you!

Please check out Anythings Pawsable. They are working on solutions. https://anythingspawsablefoundation.com

Update: True to his name, not only has DB Cooper done well at avoiding capture but he has managed to hide his identity. Sorry folks, he/she is so very matted and tangled in that region but we think that “she” is a “he” and seems to be neutered. The mats are quite bad with the longer fur and DB is extremely timid so we aren’t going to push the matter until the grooming appointment next week and offer a little time to adjust and decompress.

We finally managed to catch this super smart dog who we’ve dubbed DB Cooper. Kudos for anyone who knows why. 😅

Anythings Pawsable Foundation’s Mary Holley had to purchase a much needed, larger kennel system which we tweaked and made into a trap because the dog seemed to be trap resistant...it refused to enter into our usual traps.

Mary called us to help after her and Sid Skene spent a week of all nighters, setting a trap, tracking this dog’s prints in the snow, and asking local businesses, and people for any information they could gather that might help catch this dog. Mary did find someone at a local business who said he had been seeing this pup since the summer time.
Over the next two weeks we ordered new parts to help build and improve this newly built trap. Richard Jensen build a trigger with a motion sensor, that would trip the door he had welded in a specific way to drop when triggered. Most of the two weeks were spent tweaking the system and dialing in the the trigger to close properly and at the right time and letting DB get comfortable with the trap with food and water offerings. The last thing we needed to do was scare this already very weary dog, away from our traps even more so getting it right was crucial. We also had a time line. The dog was consistently going to the Jerome Fairgrounds, which is where we got permission to set up traps, but we were quickly running out of time as they had scheduled events coming up. They had given us until this Thursday to move our traps. …talk about cutting it close….2 days.

We started looking for an owner in an effort to get help getting this pup to safety. It’s possible that someone lost the dog at the stockyards or the fairgrounds and had since given up looking.
We knew from our game cameras that the dog had a collar with some kind of tag so we hoped someone loved and missed this pup.

With just 2 days left before needing to get our traps picked up, we had the parts with the last showing up that day. Rick put it all together, it worked a few times then stopped working. He had to switch out the mechanism with the trigger that we all use to lock and unlock car doors. The mechanism was strong enough to pull the pin. It worked. So we finished baiting the trap with ALL kinds of good foods and smells, drove to the gas station to watch the trap through binoculars.

It didn’t take long for the dog to show up. It quickly went to the water that was provided but was more timid to venture further into the trap for the food. After much circling and laying down to study the trap, a scene that we had grown accustomed to seeing after the previous 3 weeks. Finally she started venturing inside and then back outside to circle the trap a few more times. After leaving our sight for about half an hour, it’s return quickly brought our elation when we could see the pup jumping around in an effort to escape our trap. We couldn’t get to the trap fast enough as we ran across the field to calm her down so she couldn’t hurt herself or escape the trap.
This beautiful dog who had tested our trapping skills for weeks finally had a leash on her.

She acts like a fish caught on a line with the leash. We tried wrapping her in one of our coats to carry her the distance to the vehicles. She was so scared. We tried checking the tag , which is an old rabies tag, worn and almost unreadable.

Dave Wright with Friends Furever, offered to get DB to the vet to get checked out. Initially she was so matted around her belly and backend that we were unable to determine s*x. Sawtooth is going to clean her up and check her out. They already checked her for a chip and contacted that vet with info from the tag but were unable to find the owner. FFAR will still be able to use that info to verify an owner. The Jerome Shelter was contacted and said they didn’t have any leads for an owner but now had her pic if someone comes forward. If one isn’t located, FFAR will be looking for a foster to help rehab this poor pup who has seemingly became feral in order to survive. We believe she’s a corgi border collie mix or maybe a mini Aussie BC mix. Anyone interested in donating towards the cost of the trap, please contact Anythings Pawsable Foundation. Donations for DB’s vet care, foster care, or possibly an eventual adoption should watch Friends Furever Animal Rescues page.

Thank you everyone for your support and following our adventures.

Does anyone recognize this border collie? It’s been seen for the last several months around the area of the stockyards and Sawtooth Vet clinic in Jerome. It has a collar with some kind of tag but it’s crossing busy streets and has almost been hit by cars. Please share to find the owner who we are afraid may not be looking for this dog anymore because of the amount of time it has been out there.
If you’ve seen the dog and you’re feeding it, please stop. We are trying to catch it to get it out of the cold and keep it from getting hurt.

Update:1/29
It is with a heavy heart and through tears that I have to tell you that even with all of us pulling for him, Pilot has succumbed to his injuries. The veterinarians at Sawtooth (Jerome) and the Idaho Humane Society did everything they could for him and in the end…he wasn’t alone and knew our love. Until we see you again on the 🌈 bridge Pilot. 😭 💔

UPDATE: Pilot has a break of the ilium wing (pelvis) that is effecting the spinal chord and causing his bladder to not neurologically respond to volume stimulus and his right rear leg is unresponsive to pain stimuli. He also may have other screw/plate surgery. -From Dave Wright

Special thanks to Rock Creek Fire Department!
Barbara Porter Richard Jensen Katelynn Jensen Dave Wright

Barbara Porter got word that someone had spotted a dog dragging its backend, likely hit by a car, in the middle of a field between Kimberly and the Hansen Bridge. We went out looking for the dog Saturday night, shining our spotlights as far as we could see in the dark. Richard Jensen followed the tracks of the man who spotted the dog out into the middle of the field but was not able to determine where the dog went from there nor was he able to see the dog. After an hour and a half of searching we decided we needed more light and would return in the morning. Sunday morning came and we all headed back out. Katelynn Jensen and Staci Jensen followed the tracks back into the field but were still unable to spot the dog while Barb was checking out some area buildings. If the dog was in as bad of shape as what was reported, they didn’t think he could have gone too far so they circled back towards a line of trees and a ditch. Walking another half mile from the tracks, Katelynn jumped into the ditch and spotted him almost immediately. She approached but he seemed scared and she thought he might try to bite. They called Barbara Porter and Richard Jensen to bring blankets, supplies, and figure out how to get him out of the steep ditch he was in. They worked to gain his trust and make him as comfortable and warm as they could. Knowing it was going to be very difficult getting this poor pup, who they were concerned might have a broken back or broken leg(s), out of this ditch, Barb contacted ROCK CREEK FIRE DEPARTMENT who THANKFULLY agreed to come out to help. Dave Wright (Friends Furever Animal Rescue) was able to come out too and we are beyond grateful to all of them. If anyone sees any of these wonderful people, please thank them! They were able to get this poor dog out of this ditch without causing more injury to him. Barb was sure she had seen a post for the owner of this hound on Facebook and was able to contact them to meet us at the location. Dave Wright transported Pilot to Sawtooth Vet in Jerome where they got him on warmed IV fluids and a heated blanket to help with hypothermia, dehydration, and await further treatment. Pilot had been missing since January 4th. We will update when we hear any more news on how Pilot is doing but we are hopeful!!!!

It takes a village.…
We, along with Anythings Pawsable Foundation, have been working on catching these little guys for over a week. The farmer called us because they were killing his chickens and after being advised to “just shoot” so many dogs, we were fortunate this farmer has such a big heart and sought us out to help. We would like to thank the Jerome County Sheriffs Department for continuing to work on getting more stray dogs from this area, picked up in an effort to save and protect the dogs and the farmers. These pups that were caught have been transferred to the care of
www.facebook.com/fund/FriendsFureverAnimalRescue if anyone is able to support them for the medical and continued care of these pups or if interested in fostering.

On this giving Tuesday, please check out the continued efforts of https://www.facebook.com/anythingspawsable/
Thank you.

It's time to change direction when it comes to helping animals. Shelters are full and rescues are scrambling trying to find foster families to take in these animals. Yet the animals keep coming.
The truth today with shelters and rescues constantly overflowing, the doors are closed and many strays and pets are being left out.

We have a chance to stop this madness. Over the next few weeks, our organization, Anythings Pawsable Foundation, will begin to launch our next project.

We can stop the suffering and multiplying of so many unwanted pets.... It's time!

UPDATE...
They are now at the Gooding Dog Shelter for their legal hold.

We had a call that someone in a white pickup truck dumped these 2 dogs in southern Gooding County. They are both very sweet dogs. We aren’t sure if they were stolen and then dumped. Dave Wright with Friends Furever had the female taken to the vet because of concerns for her health. The veterinarian said she has some infections and gave her medications. They are both looking for their owner and are currently in the custody of Friends Furever Animal Rescue with intentions to admit them into the Gooding animal shelter on Monday. Please contact us, Dave, or the Gooding shelter with any info of owner or who dumped these dogs. Thank you!

Location is in the comments...
Lost dog from the semi rollover......can't get the owner to stop driving up and down the roads in her side by side 😔 granted, the dog is 95% likely to be in the trees, but I just cringe every time she tells me where she drove all day,
Granted, she was in a semi accident and she hurts BAD....i understand she needs to not be hiking.
Also, we've found very limited water sources. It's in the low 90's in this area, but heavily shaded. If she were hunkered down in the trees, how long until dehydration becomes critical? The last of the rain puddles officially dried up on Monday and Tuesday, so hopefully she'd been drinking up until that point.

Little ODIN just came into rescue today as an owner surrender because he was vomiting and had bloody diarrhea. Our suspicions were confirmed. He tested positive for Parvo 😭

He is currently in treatment at Sawtooth Veterinary Services-Animal Hospital in Jerome and needs your good energy and prayers! Treatment costs on the average of $500 compared to the cost of vaccinations at as little as $15.

It is IMPERATIVE that you don’t take your puppy out in public until the third vaccine at around 14 weeks because Parvo is very aggressive in the valley and they are not fully protected until the THIRD Parvo/distemper vaccine. They can (and we have had) get Parvo even after only 2 vaccinations if it is particularly aggressive.

We are asking for help with his treatment. You can donate via the button on this post or call Sawtooth directly at 208-324-5151 and make an over-the-phone donation.

THANK YOU!!!

Found in Jerome County:

Today we had to go pick up 2 dogs because the shelters are full. Because the owner of the property was trying to find the owners of the dogs over several days but couldn’t take them to the shelter, she eventually called us. But without a place to take them, what are we to do? Our homes are even full. But when the dogs started threatening the chickens of the home owner. She has the option to legally shoot them in this state when they go after live stock but in desperation she pleaded with Friends Furever to take them or she had little choice but to shoot them. Often times law enforcement encourages home owners to shoot the dogs. We are not blaming the home owners, the livestock owners. We are not blaming law enforcement, or the shelters for being full. This is a community problem. This influx of animals that people don’t want to take responsibility for, that they let run loose all over to reproduce, attack livestock, cause vehicle accidents and/or damage it something that our communities need to fix. We need to require spay and neutering. We need to tell local city and county elected officials that these problems are real and need to be solved.

The rescues in our area are foster based, including FFAR who have already been paying $1,000/ week for boarding. Now FFAR has taken on the greater responsibility, including financial, in boarding and vetting if medical issues arise or deal with behavioral problems. Both of these dogs are terrified.

07/08/2021

In one week in 2020, our volunteers picked up almost 30 dogs. Nearly all were all picked up in areas where no animal shelter was available. One had already been ran over and killed. With the multitude of lost and found pages, and not all on social media, what are we to do to find owners if one exists? Where are we to take the animals that often times haven’t had any vaccinations and may have diseases that even effect us? Where do we take them that is safe for other animals and even humans? Because often times, our choices have been to either not go save the animals or bring them into our homes, expose them to our own animals and families. Hold them in our homes for the legal 5 day stray hold while they aren’t always friendly to other animals…or leave them in the desert, only to later find the bodies of those we didn’t or couldn’t save. Then after the stray hold where do they go? NEARLY THIRTY DOGS IN ONE WEEK. Not even mentioned are the medical bills incurred. The dog that was hit by a truck on Thanksgiving and still alive, where does she go? The dog that was shot multiple times and still fighting to live, where does he go? The fifty some Great Pyrenees dogs that are fending for themselves for food and chasing livestock, where do they go? Who is able to incur the costs of getting these animals vaccinated, spayed/neutered, any other medical?
Please don’t read this and dismiss it as hyperbole. These are all things we’ve faced. We need your help. Show your local elected officials that you care about this problem. Write to them. Call them. Support local shelters. These problems are only increasing with the population growth we are seeing. Please help! I’m not asking for money, only to make it clear to our elected officials that this matters. Lives matter.
