The Mauldin House

The Mauldin House All life is one thing. When we acknowledge this, killing is no longer an option. We simply strive for balance.

The weeds, the bugs, the rock chucks, the people and the food are equally important.

72deep cell plug starts
$1ea

These starts are brown with no chemicals. They have been intended to by hand and are ready to be planted now (first week March).
While they would benefit from being covered with a fabric or row cover, you may find success in warm microclimates now.

I generally wrap my lettuce in a cotton towel and then get that damp.
You can throw that in the vegetable drawer or in a bowl. It'll last a long time this way and stay super nice.

These were grown by placing the potato on the surface of the bed and then covering with straw. I sprinkled some compost over the top of the straw.

I went to harvest and it took me about 20 minutes to grab 38.8 lb out of one half of the bed. I didn't use any tools except for a basket to carry the potatoes up to the house.

I love this method.

They come out easily, clean, undamaged, and huge.

Less work to plant, less work to harvest.

No digging needed.

Life. That is what the garden is about. The birds, the bees, the plants and the people. Life is in the garden. It isn’t our job to control and destroy anything. As a gardener in a Life Garden it is our role to make sure that all the living creatures in the garden are healthy and happy. How can we say this when there are w**d- when there are bugs and animals that eat our food before we do? We can say this because life is one thing and we simply need to play our part.

Instead of ‘killing’ the bugs, we simply feed them to bugs that we prefer in the garden. Instead of ‘killing’ the w**ds, we simply harvest the plants that choke out our food crops and turn them into compost to feed our food crops. There must be a balance. There is no need to destroy anything because if your garden is filled with all the living creatures you love to be around, there will be little room for the creatures who cause conflict. These creatures have their place and our garden crops have theirs.

A garden is a place where we can paint a picture with time and patience. A garden is a place where we can help the Earth speak, “Food for mankind.” It is a place where we can find solace and peace. It is a place where we can exercise all of the virtues that the plants and animals within have to offer. Would one not want a garden if he could find his own virtues there?

Join us in fostering life. Join us down the path for health, happiness and peace. Garden food is a Natural Human Right and the garden has been the catalyst of food since mankind began. We are all one people- the people of this Earth and it is our garden. Let no one be excluded from the happiness that life brings.
