The w**ds, the bugs, the rock chucks, the people and the food are equally important.

These were grown by placing the potato on the surface of the bed and then covering with straw. I sprinkled some compost over the top of the straw.

I went to harvest and it took me about 20 minutes to grab 38.8 lb out of one half of the bed. I didn't use any tools except for a basket to carry the potatoes up to the house.

I love this method.

They come out easily, clean, undamaged, and huge.

Less work to plant, less work to harvest.

No digging needed.

Two young men both started their Farms at the same time.

It came time for the farmers get chickens. The second farmer came by while the first was building his chicken house. He criticized the work of the first farmer.
The second farmer said that there were many flaws and that he could build a far superior chicken house.

Winter came, then spring and chicks were hatching at the First Farm. Meanwhile, on the Second Farm, no chicken house had yet been constructed. The second farm did not yet have chickens.

When dealing with plants and animals: functional care works fine.
Straight lines are often not necessary.
Imperfections can easily be overlooked.
The goal of taking care of these outside-creatures is to help them be happier. If they are Happy and comfortable, it doesn't have to be visually appealing to us.
We are the stewards because we can overlook our Nature to better the existence of other beings.

I found that placing the potato at soil level and then burying with straw is my preferred method of growing potato. I don't have to dig up the soil and it's easier to harvest.

The potatoes also seem to be larger and more prolific as well as cleaner. Large new potatoes can be harvested very easily.

Wild Boar Burger with Sautéed Fermented Carrots

Ingredients:

- For the Burger:
- 1 wild boar burger patty
- 1 tablespoon bacon grease or lard
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon habanero salt (or any spicy salt)
- 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder

- For the Sautéed Carrots:
- 1 cup fermented carrots, sliced into rounds
- 1 tablespoon bacon grease or lard
- 1/2 teaspoon habanero salt (or any spicy salt)
- Salt and black pepper to taste

- For Deglazing:
- Juice of 1 lemon

- Garnish:
- Fresh microgreens

Instructions:

1. Preparation:
- If using homemade habanero salt, prepare it in advance by blending habaneros with sea salt and allowing it to dry.
- Ensure your fermented carrots are well-drained before slicing them into rounds.

2. Cooking the Burger:
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add 1 tablespoon of bacon grease or lard to the skillet.
- Season the wild boar patty with habanero salt, chipotle powder, and a pinch of black pepper.
- Place the patty in the hot skillet.

3. Sautéing the Carrots:
- In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of bacon grease or lard.
- Add the sliced fermented carrots to the skillet.
- Season with habanero salt, a pinch of salt, and black pepper.
- Sauté the carrots for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized and tender.

Cook until you have browned both sides of the party and the inside is done.

4. Deglazing:

- Reduce the heat to low and add the lemon juice to the skillet.
- Stir and scrape the bottom of the skillet with a spatula to deglaze and incorporate all the flavorful bits into a light sauce.
- Let the lemon juice reduce slightly for about 1 minute.

5. Serving:
- Plate the wild boar burger with the sautéed fermented carrots on the side.
- Drizzle the deglazed lemon juice sauce over the boar and garnish with kale microgreens

Life. That is what the garden is about. The birds, the bees, the plants and the people. Life is in the garden. It isn’t our job to control and destroy anything. As a gardener in a Life Garden it is our role to make sure that all the living creatures in the garden are healthy and happy. How can we say this when there are w**d- when there are bugs and animals that eat our food before we do? We can say this because life is one thing and we simply need to play our part.

Instead of ‘killing’ the bugs, we simply feed them to bugs that we prefer in the garden. Instead of ‘killing’ the w**ds, we simply harvest the plants that choke out our food crops and turn them into compost to feed our food crops. There must be a balance. There is no need to destroy anything because if your garden is filled with all the living creatures you love to be around, there will be little room for the creatures who cause conflict. These creatures have their place and our garden crops have theirs.

A garden is a place where we can paint a picture with time and patience. A garden is a place where we can help the Earth speak, “Food for mankind.” It is a place where we can find solace and peace. It is a place where we can exercise all of the virtues that the plants and animals within have to offer. Would one not want a garden if he could find his own virtues there?

Join us in fostering life. Join us down the path for health, happiness and peace. Garden food is a Natural Human Right and the garden has been the catalyst of food since mankind began. We are all one people- the people of this Earth and it is our garden. Let no one be excluded from the happiness that life brings.
