Aiya was such a helpful girl today and held her own tube for preoxygenation! At LCVC we make sure to preoxygenate each patient for at least five minutes prior to any surgery or dental procedure. A major benefit of preoxygenation is that it allows for better ventilation during procedures. We love simple things that provide a more successful outcome!

Nala was referred to us after having recurring symptoms which included nasal discharge and facial swelling. She was experiencing these symptoms due to an impaction of tooth 104 (upper canine) that was located in the right maxillary nasal sinus. After evaluation, Nala was referred to BluePearl Pet Hospital for a CT scan to better locate the tooth. Thankfully the advanced imaging allowed for a successful outcome in which the tooth was extracted. We are happy to say Nala's symptoms have subsided and she is recovering great!

The first day of spring is here! With warmer weather, you may notice your pet responding more to different allergens, especially in the environment.

It is common your pet may become itchy, either in a localized area or all over. A good way to help sooth itchiness is by giving your pet regular baths with a hypoallergenic shampoo. If itchiness persists or you notice other symptoms like hives, inflamed skin, sneezing, or constant licking it would be best to contact your veterinarian for further evaluation.

Please reach out if you have questions or concerns! Our phone number is 218-834-4234, and email is [email protected].

When talking about dental chews or treats, Dr. Brown and her dental team like to say if you can't bend it, break it, or flex it then it is likely to lead to tooth injury. This case came in after fracturing a tooth from chewing on a buffalo horn. Dr. Brown and her dental team worked to provide Root Canal Therapy and seal the tooth to prevent future infection. Next we will place a titanium alloy crown to strengthen the tooth in a few weeks. Stay tuned! 🦷

We at Lake County Veterinary Clinics believe in the best for our fur creatures. We want to inform you that both intestinal parasites and fleas/ticks are back in our area.

Because we care so much about the wellbeing of our patients we are changing our heartworm and intestinal parasites recommendations for dogs to Sentinel Spectrum. This covers the same as our current product Interceptor plus but has one additive ingredient which helps with fleas. It also provides a better rebate for our clients. See updated preventative health care guidelines on our website at www.lakecountyvet.com. We wish everyone a safe and early spring season!!!
