In addition to our last post, we have now added special diet foods to our donation bin.
We have available:
-kidney care
-urinary care
-oncology care
-senior care
-digestive care
-sensitive stomach
-glycobalance

If you or anyone you know could use any of these foods, please stop in during any of our open house hours and we will share them with you!
Mon-Fri 9-11am, Tues 5-7pm, Sat 9-12 and closed on Sundays.

Hello! We are feeling the love from all of you lately. And we must say, we have some pretty awesome supporters!
We currently have excess cat and dog food that is soon to be expiring. We would like to share it with any community members who are in need. If you, or someone you know is struggling this month, please feel free to stop by the shelter and grab an item. Please just take what you need and leave the rest for someone else. The bin is located underneath the eve by our front door.
We will continue doing this for as long as our supply allows us!

Attention all Bulldog lovers‼️‼️‼️
Meet “Buster”! This hunk of love is ready for a new lease on life!
He is a 19 month old purebred Bulldog who has been owned(and loved) by two people whose health has not been well. Because of this, his training-and eating habits-have fallen to the wayside. He has pretty much lived inside his whole life.
With that being said, he needs to go on a diet! In fact, it started today when he arrived at the shelter. He has also learned some aggressive tendencies due to getting no mental stimulation and walks. So far, in the short time we have had him at the shelter, he has been great with us LCHS workers. And the Lake County Vet Clinic in Larsmont can vouch for what a nice dog he is. They wanted us to mentioned that anyone who would like additional information on Buster could give them a call. He has been prone to ear infections, so they have come to know Buster and have a great connection with him.
He has met other dogs and seems to be fine with play but can then get possessive of toys and food. Cats are unknown. Young kids probably wouldn’t be best as well.
Would anyone like a cute project and new best friend?! He’s just longing for someone to do something with him!!
He needs an alpha who will teach him how to behave like the distinguished gentleman that he is! His adoption fee is a donation of your choice-to an approved home/application.

Another fabulous pet walk is in the books! Thank you to everyone who came out today to support us! We don’t have a monetary total yet, but we will share that once we get it.
We had somewhere around 75-100 people in attendance!

This beautiful cat was just brought to us after a couple awesome, young city workers went above and beyond to live trap the cat at the campground in Two Harbors this morning.

We are just a week away from all of the fun! It’s crunch time to get all of those pledges from your family and friends!
Don’t have a pledge form? That’s okay! You can still just show up and have some fun! Don’t own any pets(or don’t want to bring them) but still want to come? That’s okay, too! Animals aren’t necessary to enjoy yourself during this event!

This male and female dog were just brought to us after being found on the Gun Club Road in Two Harbors. They are currently safe at the shelter and we will be open again tomorrow morning from 9-11am.

**As you can see from the length of our grass in the backyard, we also need a new lawnmower! If you have a gentle used or like new mower you would like to either donate or sell for a decent price, let us know! We are trying to avoid an old j***y one that we will have to throw away in a few months. Thank you!

OWNERS FOUND!

We just got a call from some hikers on the Superior Hiking Trail. They had two dogs run up on them today-the first one they were unable to approach as it was scared and took off(described as a brown/white Husky mix). The second one started following them and they couldn’t get her to stay put(pictured). They currently have her with them and will be bringing her to the shelter tomorrow-unless we are able to find her owner beforehand.
They found her between the McCarthy and Ferguson campsites- by the Rossini Road trailhead and Demonstration Forest trailhead.
