HOW I RAISE MY PUPS:
At Rose City Dachshunds, I raise my puppies underfoot (literally) with my own pets and family. They will be socialized with both male and female dogs, male and female adults, and children. I am with the mommy to assist as needed while she is in labor and handle the puppies myself, as she allows, from the moment they are born. As
soon as the babies are old enough, I start introducing them into the rest of the pack for their supervised playtimes and snuggle with them for cuddle time and nap times throughout each day. Your puppy will be loved on and played with just like it was my own. ADOPTION PROCESS & WAITLISTS:
Rose City Dachshunds Application Process & Policies
All potential fur parents and families on the waitlist please take notice and read the following policies:
1). All inquiries for puppies will be required to complete a Waiting List Questionnaire for review by Rose City Dachshunds. Once a questionnaire has been reviewed, applicants will be notified of their status for approval to become a Rose City Dachshunds owner.
2). At the time of approval, applicants will then be given the option to be added to one of two waiting lists: the normal Notification Waiting List or a Priority Waiting List which will require a non-refundable $200 fee that is applied to the puppy’s deposit and purchase price.
3). Those wishing to be on the Priority Waiting List will be given first choice of available puppies according to their preferences and will be given 12 hours to decide to place their full puppy deposit (half of the puppy’s selling price) or to pass and have their Priority Waiting List fee retained for a future litter.
4). After the Priority Waiting list has been notified and given the option to place deposits, the Notification Waiting List will then be contacted in order about any remaining available puppies and will be given 12 hours to choose a puppy or pass until the next time. Those wishing to place a deposit on a puppy will be asked to do so at that time. Deposits are half of the puppy’s selling price.
5). Once all applicants on each waiting list are notified and have been given the chance to choose a puppy, all remaining available puppies will then be posted with their info on the puppy page for new inquiries.
6). All puppies must be paid in full on or before the time they turn 8 weeks of age or by the time they are picked up from Rose City Dachshunds, whichever comes first. Rose City Dachshunds has the right to change its policies at any time for any reason and reserves the right to reserve or withhold any puppy from any litter for any reason at our own discretion. We have the right to approve or deny applications for our puppies at any time and for any reason, including returning any fees or deposits already paid if we decide to revoke an approved application. Rose City Dachshunds possesses all rights to any decisions about our animals and puppies in our possession without consequence or retribution of any kind. ONCE YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN APPROVED:
I do not take deposits until I am sure the puppy is healthy and reaching developmental milestones in a timely manner. The price of each puppy is dependent upon their registration type, s*x, color, markings, and coat type, though sometimes coat type cannot be determined until a later age. I do not guarantee coat length or color/markings and try to educate the adoptive parents as best I can on what their puppy may look like. I do not guarantee character or temperament once the puppy leaves my home. If I find that a puppy’s personality is leaning more towards a certain side of the spectrum, I am sure to update and advise the adopting parents of my observations, experiences, and opinions. Once you have reserved your puppy and decided on a name, I will make sure to call them by that name to get them familiar with it and responsive to calling them. I will send you updated pictures and video throughout the time I am raising them in my home so you can see them growing. I do not allow home visits in order to keep my human and fur family members safe. I understand that this can be frustrating for some people, but our puppies and dogs are our babies who LIVE IN OUR HOME which we prefer to keep as a safe haven away from the sometimes crazy and cruel world. I am happy to send updated videos and pictures, as you request, to help you feel comfortable with my decisions about the privacy and safety of my home. If you are not ok with my decisions, I completely understand, and can try to recommend another reputable breeder or rescue that I am familiar with who may allow you in person visits at their own discretion. I do allow visits in a safe and clean environment, such as my Vet’s office, once the puppies have received their 6 weeks vaccinations. I DO NOT take the puppy out of our home to anywhere but the vet until they have been vaccinated. Even then, I am still very cautious with allowing anyone to handle them as their immunity is very fragile until they have completed ALL of their vaccination boosters. Puppies are ready for their new homes around 8 weeks old, once they have been fully weaned and are eating dry kibble. They will have their age appropriate immunizations and deworming. I send them with their medical records and a puppy care package to make their transition from our home to yours easier for both of you. While I do send them with a small bag of food, I will send you info on the brand and type a few weeks before you get them. I recommend you purchase their puppy food in advance, as well as any other items you need or want. Please do not take your puppy to the pet store after you pick them up as they still need several booster shots to complete their vaccinations. EVERYONE wants to touch and kiss a little puppy just like they do all new babies. But just like a human baby, a puppy’s immune system is fragile and they are more susceptible to illness and disease than adult dogs. Also, please do not buy treats for your puppy until they are several months old as their digestive system can be more sensitive while they are young and developing. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Just let me know what I can help with!

HOW MUCH FOR A PUPPY? Let me say a few words to you, the person who writes an email to simply ask the price. The person who calls and after hearing a price states: “I can buy a cheaper dog elsewhere”. I also address you the person who doesn’t care about papers because I want “just a pet”. No dog is “just a pet”. Behind every pure bred dog is a BREEDER. I’m using capital letters to differentiate a breeder from a pet factory or mill. A reputable breeder does not breed dogs without papers; that does not protect the integrity of the breed. Registration (papers) are records of lineage that document bloodline and allow one to research any possible health issues present in the lineage. When you select to buy a dog from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for the health of every dog; both dogs owned and every dog they’ve sold. This breeder will skip holidays, miss sleeping, and most of their personal house space has been turned into space for their dogs. The truly passionate breeder who loves what they breed, puts their whole heart and soul into it. Not only in puppies that are sold, but also in each client who owns a piece of their heart and now is a member of their extended family. This does not take into account any pup/dog who might get sick or need extra help to thrive. Breeders worry about their babies after they leave and will take one back without question. A breeder will get their hands dirty, often covered in everything accompanied with birthing. Because that’s what life is about...In the middle of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps turning. A breeder will do progesterone tests, echos, xrays, analysis, emergency c sections, vaccinations, register dogs and litters, research pedigrees, deworm, etc., etc. Last but by no means least, a breeder CHOOSES the family lucky enough to have one of their puppies. Yes, you read that right. A true breeder chooses who they sell to because they are not making money off the sale. There is no compensation that can offset the investment a Breeder has made so they need to be confident its the right fit. Many times saying more no’s then yes...A good Breeder will have different criteria for those wanting to carry on their bloodline, why? Because breeding is not a responsibility to ever be taken lightly, it’s a lifestyle choice set aside for ONLY the few devoted people willing to sacrifice. Because a dog is never “just a pet” it’s the Breeder’s legacy, a little boy’s best friend, a little girls protector, an elderly persons therapy, a member of the family, someone’s whole world!!!
