✨️THE SENIOR WHO WAS OVERLOOKED… UNTIL TODAY ✨️
Yesterday we celebrated a very special boy who has waited far too long for his moment to shine. Meet Teriyaki, our super smart, gentle senior who was constantly overlooked because of the grey in his face… but oh, if only everyone knew how much gold was in his heart. ✨🐾
After all those days of watching younger dogs get chosen first, Teriyaki finally found a family who looked past the silver on his muzzle and saw the wisdom, love, and loyalty he carries with him. And today? He walked out the door with his head high and his tail wagging, ready to start the forever he’s always deserved. 🏡💛

Today, we want to take a moment to celebrate someone whose dedication has shaped who we are, our Animal Care Supervisor Ashley.

Ashley has been part of the St Francis Animal Sanctuary & Rescue family for three years, and during that time she has become one of the absolute pillars of our operations. She is steady, consistent, and grounding . The kind of person everyone instinctively looks to when things get chaotic. In emergencies, she is calm. In stressful moments, she is clear headed. No matter what is happening around her, she shows up with grace and unwavering focus on what matters most, the animals. She is a natural with them. Patient, intuitive, and able to connect even with the most anxious or frightened animals.

She constantly looks for ways to improve our processes, elevate our standards, and make sure every animal receives the best care we can give. Ashley doesn’t just do her job, she strengthens the mission. She helps set the tone for what excellent animal care looks like.

Every single day at St Francis Animal Sanctuary & Rescue, the heartbeat of our operations comes from one person who keeps it all running smoothly, our Sanctuary Manager, Felicia. 💚

Felicia’s dedication and compassion for the animals in our care are unmatched. Sunrise to sunset, she oversees every detail of our 52 acre sanctuary. From managing daily routines, ensuring every animal receives the love and attention they deserve, coordinating vet and clinic visits, feeding, and so much more. Her hands on leadership keeps our entire team organized and our animals safe, happy, and thriving.

Her work is not easy. It takes strength, patience, and an endless amount of heart. But Felicia shows up every day with a determination that inspires everyone around her. Thanks to her, our sanctuary runs like a well-oiled machine, even when the days are long and the challenges are many.

Our goofy, lovable boy FINALLY found his forever family! From zoomies to snuggles, Quinton finally has a place (and people) to call his own. 🥰

We’re so proud of how far he’s come, and we can already tell he’s going to soak up every bit of love and attention he deserves. 😊

I’ve been waiting patiently for my forever home, a place filled with snuggles, laughter, and someone to call my own. Some people say I’m “too old” or “not cute enough,” but I wish they could see what’s in my heart. I’m only a year and a half old, and I have so much love left to give. ❤️
All I need now is someone who will look past the labels and see me for who I really am, a loyal, goofy, loving companion who’s just waiting for his person.

Poor Quinton has had it rough. He was dumped as a baby, brought to the sanctuary, and then watched his mom and sister get adopted while he stayed behind. But even after all that, Quinton still holds out hope for his forever home. 💔

You might be wondering why he’s still here, and honestly, so are we. The sad truth? Quinton isn’t “catch your eye cute.” We’ve been told that more than once 😭. And now that he’s a year and a half old, people say he’s “too old.” 🙄
What Quinton lacks in looks, he's more than makes up for in love, laughter, and loyalty. ❤️
He’s playful, laid back, a little stubborn (in the best way), and absolutely adores children. He does great with other dogs too!

At a year and a half, Quinton may not win a "cutest dog" contest, but he has something far more special, a heart overflowing with love. He's the kind of dog who will greet you with the biggest tail wags that move his entire body, snuggle up after a long day, and keep you laughing with his playful, sometimes stubborn, personality.

His only request? A cat free home (because cats and Quinton don't exactly mix).

St Francis Animal Sanctuary & Rescue invites you to the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi Blessing of the Animals! Join us at our St. Francis Animal Sanctuary Thrift Store & Kitty Haven in Mandeville on Saturday, October 4th at 10AM as Bonnie Poirier leads the blessings.

The day will include in-person pet blessings, a blessing for our resident animals, a heartfelt pet memorial, and a peaceful meditation. Come celebrate the love and joy our animals bring. All are welcome!
