Today’s book is “Royal Blood” by Aimée Carter.

American girl Evan Bright has known since she was eleven that the King of England is her father. She has been shuttled from one boarding school to another since her grandmother died and has never met her father (despite him having custody of her). When she is kicked out of her last school a month shy of her 18th birthday, the King's people bring her to England to "hide out" until she is no longer a minor. Except the secret gets out and chaos ensues. In her newfound infamy, Evan is all anyone wants to talk about - especially after a fun night turns deadly and Evan becomes the primary suspect in a murder investigation.

While our topic might not have been the funniest, Tim Parrott managed to make us all laugh today at our Lunch and Learn program. Attendees learned about funerals-from the different kinds to how to preplan and the importance of having your wishes recorded.

If you missed out on this program, don't worry! Our friends from Parrott Funeral Home will be back with us in the fall for another Lunch and Learn program, so keep an eye out for that! In the meantime, join us for our February program- Do the Safety Dance: Staying Safe In Person and Online with Lt. Philip Nelson from the Tyrone PD.

Today’s book is also a Netflix film, “Rez Ball” by Byron Graves.

These days, Tre Brun finds his greatest joy playing basketball for the Red Lake Reservation high school team—despite being constantly reminded of his late brother, Jaxon, who died in an accident. When Jaxon's former varsity teammates offer to mentor Tre, he sees it as his chance to lead his Ojibwe rez to their first state championship. This is the first step toward his dream of playing in the NBA, no matter how tough the journey. With rez teams having come close for decades, Tre is determined to take his team to state. Living up to Jaxon's dreams means their story can continue. However, stepping into his brother’s role as a star player means Tre can’t afford any mistakes—on the court, in school, or with his new friend, gamer Khiana (who he is definitely not falling for.)

Today’s book is a graphic novel, “Project Nought” by Chelsey Furedi.

Ren is in a bus accident in 1996 and wakes up... in 2122. He is part of a time travel experiment with a company called Chronotech, with students in their present so they can learn firsthand what the past was like. After several months, the travelers are returned to their own time, and their memories are wiped. But can it really be that simple? Is Chronotech the benevolent entity it seems to be? This sci-fi graphic novel pairs adventure with romance. The art and story will keep you turning the pages!
