🦮 HAPPY ASSISTANCE DOG DAY! 🐕‍🦺

Man’s best friends are called so because of their loyalty and dedication toward their owners. Service dogs take that dedication even further, helping people with disabilities navigate their everyday lives. There are many different kinds of assistance dogs; from the well-known guide dogs & hearing alert dogs that help people with vision and hearing loss, to lesser-known helpers like seizure alert & medical alert dogs that can recognise the signs of heart attacks, strokes and epilepsy.
Assistance Dog Day is one day out of the celebrated International Assistance Dog Week, which was started by Marcie Davis, and is celebrated from August 1 to August 7 this year in means to honor service dogs & their trainers. Together, they have improved countless lives across the globe.

Today, July 21st, is not only National Craft for Your Local Shelters Day…It’s also National No Pet Store Puppies Day. Today is a great chance to educate your friends & family about what happens in puppy mills & remind them not to buy puppies, or any pet supplies, from pet stores that sell puppies—but adopt from a shelter or rescue group instead!

What happens to pet store puppies who aren't sold? ... Eventually, puppies are marked down to the price the store paid the puppy mill broker — usually a few hundred dollars. If the puppy still doesn't sell, stores will often cut their losses and give puppies away to employees, friends or rescue groups.

There’s a national day for nearly every occasion. Potatoes, buttons, and even nerds have a day of recognition. Luckily, there are many national days that give us the opportunity to celebrate the organizations, foods, animals, and people we love, often and in many ways. July 21st is National Craft for Your Local Shelters day. It’s one of the few times a year we can support our local shelters, and in a fun, personal way. Set aside a day to create some fun shelter necessities. This particular special day was started in 2012 as a way to give back to local shelters without having to adopt or give money. Shelters need supplies, and a lot of them can be created with items we have sitting around our homes. So, let’s set aside a day to create some fun shelter necessities. For those of us who can’t offer the entire day - we can work on one of these projects at the end of the day while we catch a little late night comedy TV before bed.

This absolutely broke my heart. Watching this poor dog looking for it’s owner not understanding what happened or why he was left all alone in a strange place.

Today is National Pet Fire Safety! None of us know when tragedy will strike, the residents of Californian and a few other states know this all to well. So be sure to have an emergency plan in place.
Pet Alert stickers should be posted - one on each side of your house, or one in every apartment window - indicating how many pets are in the home so that firefighters know exactly how many pets they should be looking for. Keep a collar on your dog, and leashes and cat carriers in an easy-to-access spot near an exit point so you can grab them on your way out.

Hello everyone! With this high temperatures try to keep your pets inside as much as possible. If they are kept outside, make sure they have water and shade readily available.
If you take your pets for a walk, make sure they have some sort of paw covering on all their paws when walking them on concrete or asphalt. Their pads can burn just as easily as your feet can.
