Founded in 1976 as an organization solely for charitable purposes and has the general responsibility to operate for the advancement of humane treatment and the prevention of cruelty to animals.

We are NOT Animal Services/Control and we do NOT receive state funding. Please be patient with the fact that we have limited space. We receive numerous calls daily about animals needing help and each of t

hem is just as important as the other. We do not have the capacity to take in an unlimited number of animals. Unfortunately, many must be turned away. We will provide you with a list of other shelters and information that may help you in your time of need. Meet Stewie 🐾

He is an adorable 3 year old male Hound mix with a silly and sweet personality weighing 59lbs. He LOVES to explore and put his nose to the ground, doing what Hounds do best! Because of this, a fenced yard would be ideal for him. Stewie does well with other dogs. He met a cat through a gate and was curious but showed no negative behavior (a more thorough test can be done if needed). Stewie recently graduated from a 12-week training program where he was partnered with an inmate learning basic and intermediate skills. He was very shy at first but came out of his shell and did AWESOME learning new things!🎓 Stewie is ready to find his forever home. Consider meeting this pup at our shelter.

Rosie 🥰
She is a sweet and mellow 4 year old female kitty. She enjoys receiving attention from people and has an easy-going personality. Rosie tolerates being with other cats but mostly hangs by herself at the top of the cat trees. She would be just fine as an only cat or with a calmer, laid back cat to co-exist with. Rosie is a wonderful companion. We hope you'll consider meeting her at our shelter!

This Thursday, January 9th, we will have a booth set up at the Lake County Farmer's Market located at the Fairgrounds from 8am-1pm. We will be set up in Expo B next to David Johnson. David sets up weekly and sells pet supplies. He is offering adopters from our shelter (must bring adoption paperwork) a free harness, leash, collapsible bowl and bag dispenser. Adopters will also recieve 20% off anything else at his booth. David is also donating a harness or leash for our prison program when someone purchases one for their own fur baby.

Good Boy Alert 🚨

Ryan is a friendly and silly 1.5 year old male Lab/Hound mix weighing around 90 lbs. He does great with other dogs and loves to play! He is very excited when first coming out of the kennel, but after a good play session he calms down and walks well on a leash. Ryan recently completed 10 weeks of basic and intermediate obedience training being partnered with an inmate. He did a wonderful job completing the program and is VERY treat motivated. He knows a lot of different tricks. Ryan is an active pup who is very smart and loves to learn! He's a big goofy boy who will make a great companion!

Duke and Max are adorable 2 year old male brothers. They love to explore and play in our Kitty Kottage. Both are great with other cats and are the welcoming committee when new cats arrive. They do not have to be adopted together, but what's better than one sweet cat?...TWO! 😻

He is a friendly and handsome 4 year old male Catahoula mix weighing around 55 lbs. Not only is he distinguished with two different colored eyes, he's smart too! Charles recently completed a 10-week training program where he was partnered with an inmate learning basic and intermediate skills. He did AWESOME and loves to learn new things!🎓 Charles does great with kids and other dogs but will need a home without cats. If you're looking for a charming, fun-loving pup...you've just found him!
