Founded in 1976 as an organization solely for charitable purposes and has the general responsibility to operate for the advancement of humane treatment and the prevention of cruelty to animals.

We are NOT Animal Services/Control and we do NOT receive state funding. Please be patient with the fact that we have limited space. We receive numerous calls daily about animals needing help and each of t

hem is just as important as the other. We do not have the capacity to take in an unlimited number of animals. Unfortunately, many must be turned away. We will provide you with a list of other shelters and information that may help you in your time of need. Chloe is a lovable and beautiful 9 year old female kitty who needs a home. Chloe arrived at our shelter after her owner passed away. Upon arrival, we tested her for FeLV, and she came up as positive (PCR test confirmed). While FeLV might sound scary, FeLV+ kitties can live wonderful lives. It's recommended that FeLV+ kitties see the vet twice yearly to stay on top of their health. They should live in a stress-free environment to help their immune system. Chloe had a vet exam along with bloodwork (will be provided to adopter). FeLV is a cat specific virus and is not contagious to people or dogs. We believe that due to Chloe's personality, she would do well with kids and dogs. Chloe has lived with other cats, so if the home has another FeLV+ cat, that wouldn't be an issue for her. Chloe is the type of girl who would enjoy lounging in someone's lap. Consider meeting Chloe or helping us find the BEST home for her! *Chloe's adoption fee is SPONSORED!*

Happy Valentines Day ❤️ Sharing the love with an awesome adoption update for Stewie!

Stewie was adopted three weeks ago. He is doing fantastic. He has two other doggie friends and a kitty that adores him. He is still shy around loud noises. Stewie attended two sessions (20 weeks) through the prison program. He was extremely shy so when the first graduation came up, they asked if he could stay another session as he was just breaking out of his shell. Staying a second time definitely helped but coming back to the shelter made him shy again. A young couple saw Stewie's potential and gave him a chance. Now just look at him enjoying the good life! Stewie!

Can I be your Valentine? 😍
Quasar needs your LOVE! He is a precious 5 year old male Terrier mix weighing 60 lbs. He has the most loving eyes and the sweetest smile. Quasar is a mellow boy who does GREAT with other dogs and doesn't seem to mind cats. He is easy on the leash and enjoys playing fetch. Friendly with everyone he meets and loves soaking up attention. Quasar has a dry eye condition that requires daily eye meds, but he is good about taking them. He is pretty much perfect and will make an awesome companion! *Bonus: His adoption fee is SPONSORED!*

Some of our residents got to try out Mantrailing last week 👟 Mantrailing is a dog sport where a dog follows a scent trail to find a person. Leo and Radar excelled at the sport but all dogs that participated had a blast. This was a new fun way for residents to use their nose and brains. Thanks to Brad with Mutts in Motion for donating his time and introducing our pups and volunteers to this new activity!

She is a beautiful 3 year old Terrier mix weighing 46lbs. She is shy at first but with the help of treats she warms up pretty quickly. Daisy is very sweet and has fun with toys. She had a sleepover at a foster home for a few days and she did great with the resident dog and didn't pay any attention to the cats. Daisy will make a wonderful addition, consider spending time with her at our shelter.

Adoptable Charles had a day out yesterday with one of our volunteers 🐾 He played and hung out with two other dogs and did great! He had some minor resources guarding with toys around the other dogs however he listened to correction and is something that can be worked on. Charles would nudge or go to the door when he wanted to be let into the yard. He went to Downtown Eustis to work on some real world training (has been through the Inmate Training Program) where he got an A+ for his skills and obedience. Charles can't wait to find his furever home where he can bring someone lots of joy ❤️

Good Boy Alert 🚨

Radar is such a handsome pup. He is a 2 year old male Terrier mix weighing around 50 lbs. He enjoys running around in the play yard and does GREAT with other dogs. Radar has a silly and sweet personality, and he is friendly with ALL people. This boy knows some basic skills too and is ready to show them off! Update on Mau and Mavis 😻

Both girls are still in need of a home. They are adjusting pretty well to life at our shelter after their owner sadly passed away.

❤ Mau (12 year old female). Mau is really liking the Kitty Kottage where she can roam around and check things out. She does great with the other cats she's housed with and LOVES receiving attention. Mau is a big fan of playing with toys too...you'd think she was a kitten!

❤ Mavis (9 year old female bobtail). Mavis enjoys spending time in our Kitty Kottage having no issues with the other cats she's housed with. Mavis enjoys lounging on top the of the cat tree and likes to receive attention. She will venture to the porch every once in a while but is a little more reserved.

Mau and Mavis came from the same home, but they are not bonded and would do just find in a loving home of their own! If interested, please visit our shelter Tues - Sat: 10am-4pm. Address: 16435 McKinley Road, Umatilla, FL 32784

He is still looking for his perfect home! This boy has been failed a few times (due to no fault of his own) and we hope he lands his dream home soon! 🙏
Charles is a 4 year old male Catahoula mix weighing around 70 lbs. He's an active pup that never misses a play date or a walk! Charles would love a family to play with. He does GREAT with kids and other dogs but will need a home without cats. Charles recently completed a 10-week training program learning basic and intermediate obedience. He loves to learn new things and is treat motivated. If you're looking for a charming, fun, and smart companion, you've just found him!

Enrichment is something that is vital to shelter animals. We always try to switch up different enrichment ideas for our residents. Today a bucket of catnip and socks was brought out to our Kitty Kottage. Dora (dilute tortie) decided she needed the whole bucket and Clemson (brown tabby) thought the bucket lid was enough for him.
