Slobberfest 25 was a huge success!
It was wonderful seeing so many people that have adopted from Droopy over the years and became part of the Droopy family. Getting to see the Bassets we fostered, that now have their own family and how much they are loved, just fills me with joy.
Droopy BHR is blessed to have gained new supporters. This year we are thrilled that Skeeter Lynne and Hubert Corbett (ATB) Loved by Marci Thomas and Norie Fabor raised a grand total of $10,000 to become Bassetarian of 2024!
2nd place was won by Donna and Bob Funk by raising $6,200!
3rd place was won by Gaby & Lili (loved by Dawn VanKeuren) bringing in $2,478!
Grateful doesn’t begin to describe how I feel or the difference this will make to the Bassets in our program now or the ones we will be able to help, with the funds raised by these wonderful people!
This 25th anniversary Slobberfest truly was a celebration, 25 years of Basset lovers coming together to have fun and raise money to help DBHR continue our mission to help Bassets in need. Over the years we have also become a sanctuary for those Bassets that due to health, temperament, old age or chronic issues are unadoptable. Because of your support we can give them the care they need along with love and a safe place to call home. I can’t thank you enough, for making that possible!
To our amazing volunteers who work so hard to make Slobberfest happen, from my son Josh Helfferich who literally grew up in rescue, working the first Slobberfest (recruiting his friends too) and Rach his wife who has expanded the raffle to beyond amazing! Juanita Kelly who has been my Slobberfest co-coordinator for many years and has made each year better with her creativity and hard work. She has literally added her touch to every part of the event and then enlisted her family’s help too LOL. So many people who do so much: Angelika Hastings, Teri Richmond each do way more for Droopy than I could ever say, (along with enlisting their friends and family). Mark and Diane Burns, Amy Fisher, Connie Farrell, Wayne Trask, Lisa Chalmers, Rev. Carol Sharp, Yvonne and Dwayne Thomas, Clinton and Beth Rice, Tracy Dowler, Diana Dunar, Dave Engel, Sam Butera are all long-term volunteers helping each year from set up on Friday to tear down on Saturday evening, along with so many who come from near and far to help with the booths and anything else they can do. I am humbled and amazed by all of you. Thank you all so much for your help, support, love and joyful attitudes, making Slobberfest the fun event it is! The Droopy Foster Bassets send big ARHOOOS of gratitude, and slobber filled love for your support!
God bless,
Judy and the foster gang
