Our Memorial Garden is designed for those pet parents that opt for our Communal Cremation Service. Our Memorial Garden is open from dawn to dusk every day of the year.

One of the main questions I get asked when people find out where I work, is “How do you cremate pets without crying or being sad on a daily basis?”.

First of all, all of us that work at Paris Pet Crematory are not only animal lovers, but we are animal parents. Each one of us looks at our “pets” as our children. They are an integral part of our family dynamics and add so much to our every day lives. With that being said, we do shed tears, we do have sad moments when someone brings us their beloved family member pet.

One of the things that we do to alleviate the sadness is we talk to you, we listen to the funny stories and share the moments with you that are now your greatest memories of a love like no other. We truly cherish the time we spend with you hearing about your pet. We also share it with our other employees and we feel like your pet is now part of our family here as we care for them in death.

So, yes, there is sadness, but when I get to make the call and tell you that your pet is ready to come home, I am filled with such an amazing sense of joy that we are returning your beloved pet to you. We know the time that they spend here with us is short, but know that every single pet that comes through our doors adds to the long list of love that we have for this industry. It truly is our honor and our privilege that you entrust us with your beloved pet’s after death care.

HOW TO DEAL WITH THE LOSS OF YOUR PET: THE DIFFICULT JOURNEY FORWARD

Whether a pet passes away naturally or an owner has to make the choice for euthanasia, navigating through life after the loss can be overwhelming.

In the Veterinarians.org survey of 400 respondents, the top 5 coping mechanisms for dealing with pet loss were reported to be:

* Looking through pictures or watching videos of them
* Seeking out online support groups for pet loss(popular groups on Facebook include: AKC Pet Loss Support Group, The Rainbow Bridge Pet Loss and Grief Support, Coping with the Loss of a Pet Support Group, Grieving Pet Loss Support Group, and Pet Loss Support Group).
* Reading online articles about pet loss
* Reading books about pet loss(highly reviewed titles on Amazon include: When a Pet Dies, The Pet Loss Companion, Losing My Best Friend, And I Love You Still, Goodbye, Friend, and When Your Pet Dies).
* Seeking out professional grief counseling(with the growing popularity of telehealth medicine, websites like BetterHelp can connect you with professional counselors right from the comfort of your home)

A third of survey respondents (33%) found solace in making a donation in their animal’s name, while nearly 32% of respondents coped by planting a tree or erecting a monument in their animal’s honor. (Full article can be found at veterinarians.org)
