Alright folks! Here’s the announcement you’ve all been waiting for...

After more than 40 years, Yankee Clipper is MOVING! We are going through a transformation of sorts as our manager, Megan, takes the helm as owner of our new location at 3121 Heald Hwy in Union, Maine. We will have all the same wonderful, caring staff as well as all the same services. We will be called Home Away Pet Grooming and Day Boarding, find our new page on Facebook. Our new location will also allow us to offer daycare as well as a state-of-the-art self serve bathing station. And don’t worry, Liz will be there with us, too! Our last day at our Rockport location will be April 8th and we will reopen at our new Union location on April 13th. We hope to see you there!

*We will be keeping our YC number, 593-9100. We will have a new number as well, 785-HOME(4663).

Covid 19 Policies & Procedures:

Until further notice,

🐾 Curbside drop-off and pick-up only. Please call when you arrive for your appointment and remain in your car until it is your turn. We will collect your dog in the parking lot from you with OUR OWN LEASH. Please remove only your leash once we have leashed your dog, PLEASE LEAVE THEIR COLLAR ON. Cats MUST BE IN A KENNEL.

On rainy days...
🐾. ONE person at a time may come into the entryway with their pet(s). Only ONE person is allowed to wait on the ramp at a time while someone else is checking in inside. PLEASE WAIT YOUR TURN to queue on the ramp and allow the person inside to come out before the next person enters the building.

🐾 Due to extremely high demand and in an effort to accommodate as many clients as possible, we will only be able to offer 15 MINUTES MAX brushing. If your dog is too tangled to be completely combed out in the 15 minute timeframe, our only option is to judiciously clip out mats and potentially clip the coat down short all over. If you are not happy to have this done or have concerns that your pet may need to be clipped short, please leave a good contact number at check-in and WE will call YOU to discuss the options.

🐾 Shedless treatments will be offered only if time permits.

🐾 We will not be offering CAT BATHS at this time. We will offer clipping, combing, and nail trims ONLY.

🐾 PLEASE BE ON TIME for your appointment. We will be filling missed appointments if you don’t arrive within 15 minutes of your scheduled appointment time.

🐾 We will NOT be offering EXPRESS (2 hours or less) grooming appointments at this time.

🐾 Due to the high volume of pets we need to service at this time, we will not be giving specific pick up times. We will work as quickly as we can to get your pets finished in a timely fashion, but please be aware that wait times may be longer than usual. We will be offering water to pets at all times as usual, as well as potty breaks for those animals that have to stay for an extended period. Please DO NOT CALL to see if your pet is done. WE WILL CALL OR TEXT YOU when your pet is completed and you can pick up. We realize this is inconvenient for some, but we appreciate your patience and understanding during this extremely busy and stressful time.

🐾 NO WALK-IN NAIL TRIMS. Nail trims will be offered by appointment only and may be limited to certain days of the week.

🐾 Please LEAVE A MESSAGE. We will be limited to how often we can answer the phone, so please leave a message if you would like to book an appointment. Priority will be given to existing customers, and new clients will be booked once we have fulfilled requests from existing clients.

🐾 In an effort to keep you and our staff safe, please WEAR A MASK when dropping off. We will, too!

Hi everyone! We have been inundated with calls and messages lately due to the announcement that we are allowed to reopen. Please be patient as it will take a while to get back to everyone and get you all booked in. If you have tried leaving a message but have not been successful yet, please try again the next day. We are getting so many calls, our voicemail is filling up faster than we can return them and shuts off when it’s full! We understand this is frustrating but in an effort to get everyone in fairly, we are only taking appointments in the order we receive them via voicemail and we are giving our current clients priority. If you are a new client to us, please feel free to leave us a message and we will return your call, however, we may not be able to book you in right away. It’s April 2020, and Yankee Clipper is celebrating its 40th anniversary in business. It began at the Camden Hospital for Animals in 1980, operated in Camden for 20 years and then moved to its current location in Rockport in 2000. It is a happy/sad time for me as it comes as we are under a state mandate to close due to the COVID19 pandemic.

I have met thousands of wonderful people and their pets over the years! Our dedicated crew has rejoiced with new owners, welcomed hundreds of new puppies, cared for older pets until the last groom when we say goodbye. We have cried many tears with people who have lost pets. Many have returned with a new fur baby. Some have come back for the third time after loss with a new family member. We have been part of their lives and they a part of ours. I have been fortunate enough to have some wonderful employees over the years. We have laughed, we have cried. We have worked hard and done our best. We have been through good times and bad over the course of 40 years. We have made it through recessions, illness, injuries, and the tragic, untimely deaths of two members of our Yankee Clipper family crew.

We may not be considered essential by some, but I know firsthand how important keeping our pets clean and well groomed is to most of us. We hope to see you soon to get your pets back in shape for summer. We will not be taking new clients until our current customers have been scheduled.

I would like to thank the people in Mid Coast Maine and beyond who have made Yankee Clipper a success for 40 years and counting!

It is with heavy hearts that we have to say we will be forced to remain closed until the end of April due to these new stay-at-home measures mandated by the state. We will continue to reschedule those with appointments as we can throughout the coming weeks with the hopes of returning in May.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those on the front lines of this global pandemic and to all those small businesses like ours that have been affected by these measures. Please do your part and STAY HOME! We are all praying that these measures will allow us to lessen the blow to the already overburdened healthcare system and get us all back to work sooner rather than later.
For now, do what you can to run your slicker brushes and combs through your dogs and cats at least every other day if you can and we will do our very best to get back as soon as we are allowed. Thank you so much for your understanding and support through this incredibly difficult time.

If you have an upcoming appointment, please allow us to call YOU to reschedule as we will have many customers to reach tomorrow. This is disruptive and detrimental to us as a business but we have a strong, loyal client base and we know we can all pull through this together.

Please check in on Facebook for updates and do your part in this, STAY HOME. The more people can stay home and avoid contact, the sooner we will be back up and running. We ask that customers call to make an appointment for nail trims until further notice. We WILL NOT be taking any walk-in nail trims. Hello YC friends!

We wanted to give an update on what our plan is during the COVID-19 epidemic.

***YANKEE CLIPPER WILL BE OPEN!***

Starting WEDNESDAY MARCH 18th we are going to ask customers to call when they arrive in the parking lot. We will be taking one customer at a time. We will collect your dog from your vehicle and return them to you at your given pick up time. If you do not have the ability to call, please come to the door and knock.

During this time we will ask that customers please pay by credit/debit cards over the phone, but we will also accept check and cash This is in an effort to reduce cash handling/credit card processing in person and to check people out as quickly as possible.

We ask for everyone’s patience and understanding as this may create longer waiting times for folks during drop off and pick up, but we will do our best to work through everyone as quickly as possible.

The door will remain locked to allow us the ability to slow foot traffic into and out of the building.

***WE WILL BE TAKING APPOINTMENTS FOR NAIL TRIMS. NO WALK-IN NAIL TRIMS PLEASE***

If you have symptoms of the flu or are currently sick, please allow us to reschedule your appointment for a later date. We will work you in as soon as we possibly can. As of right now, our staff are all healthy and we are diligently cleaning all surfaces within the building throughout the day. We will keep you updated on our health status should that change.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but we do appreciate everyone’s cooperation in mitigating the spread of this disease.
