One common concern with dog parents is their dog being a maniac when it's time to put on their leash or other equipment. Teaching and reinforcing CALM manners is the best way to transform this. Using minimal words and calm tones (yes, even when you're frustrated), and patiently waiting until they settle before proceeding. Dogs quickly learn patterns and if CALM gets them leashed, they will reach CALM faster and faster!

Sweet Dreco is a six month old Malinois who is doing great at his training classes! Today we worked adding distractions to place, and sit/stay/recall. His dad is putting in the work with him and it shows!

Bo's an SDS Graduate!

When Bo and his family first came to SMART Dog School, he was newly adopted and terrified of most everything- including his new dad. They have worked really hard to overcome his fear, not only to give him a healthier, less stressed life but also so they can truly enjoy their dog. We are so proud to watch him graduate!

Dogs Gone Wild!

We took our advanced class out on the town and had the opportunity to introduce them to 'wildlife' they'd never encountered before! Look at these pups doing a great job!

Confidence Course!

This looks so silly but it's a great way to build confidence in your pup. Funny textures, bubble wrap, crinkly food bags, ladders, obstacles, tunnels, and so much more! Let your pup investigate each section, use lots of upbeat positivity and praise. Start easy, work up in difficulty and your pup will be a master at this in no time.
