With heat waves sweeping across the country, blue-green algae is appearing in new areas and posing an increased risk to pets.

Found in lakes, ponds or any source of standing water, it’s extremely toxic and consuming it can be fatal. The best way to prevent accidental poisoning is to keep a close eye on pets when they’re around water.

If you think your pet has been exposed, take them to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital and contact the ASPCA Poison Control at 888-426-4435.

Angie re-joined our team in 2019 and is celebrating her 4 year "work-iversary" today! She worked here years before that, too, so we have actually had the privilege of working with her for more than 4 years.

Angie is one of our skilled veterinary assistants who helps the doctors and technicians in all aspects of their jobs. She runs wellness appointments, sick pet visits, assists in surgeries, and even works at the front desk when needed! Her abilities are limitless and she is valuable in any role she is put into. Patty, you mean so much to so many of us, and VCA Green will simply not be the same without you. Just remember...you can retire from the work, the stress, and the alarm clock...but you can't retire from being amazing! Don't be a stranger, and enjoy your well-earned retirement! We love you!

Today we celebrate Patty! 🎉

It is with mixed emotions that we post this message today. Not only are we excited and proud to be celebrating Patty's 16th anniversary with VCA Green, but we are also sad to announce that she is leaving us! 😢

After 16 years of hard work and commitment to this hospital, our clients and our patients...not to mention the many years she worked before joining our team...Patty will officially be entering into a well-deserved RETIREMENT! Her last day of work will be this Tuesday, November 21st!

Patty, there aren't words to describe how much you mean to all of us at VCA Green. You've been a mom, big sister and friend to so many team members who have worked here. You are always willing to listen, give advice (or a snack 😜) or simply be supportive to anyone who needs it. You are wonderful with pet owners and kind and gentle to their pets. You've been a reliable, dedicated and amazing team member, and we are going to miss you more than you know! It simply won't be the same here without you, but we consider ourselves extremely blessed to have worked with you and to call you our family! You deserve to relax and take it easy, and we couldn't be more excited for you!
