I took this picture of my favorite personal cat Bitty the other night. Bitty was a rescue. She was an orphan and a bottle baby that my husband picked up. She's so sweet and loves my kids. She has always had a different purr. My husband says, "She has a squeaky bearing in her purr box." Share your favorite cat in the comments!

Skunk received his second round of vaccinations today! He is doing well and has doubled in weight since we got him 🙂 So far he loves his job as office cat.

For the month of July, we are giving away a free kennel cough vaccine! This vaccine is important in dogs that get boarded, groomed, or go places where they interact with different dogs. If your dog is not up to date on other vaccines and heartworm check, we will require those be brought up to date to get the free vaccine. Limit: one free vaccine per wellness visit. Call 660-947-2015 to schedule an appointment!

We had a successful Free Rabies Vaccine Clinic! We vaccinated 29 Putnam County pets against Rabies and updated some of them on other vaccines while they were here. We'd like to thank the Putnam County Health Department - Unionville, MO for making this happen!

The counter part to Librela is Solensia. It is the first and only FDA-approved treatment to control osteoarthritis in cats. It is also a once monthly injectable medication. Some signs of arthritis in cats can be less jumping, climbing stairs, and playing. I've also seen it manifest as an unthrifty haircoat because they can't groom themselves as well due to a decrease in range of motion. If you think your cat is having these symptoms, schedule an appointment, and we can discuss Solensia.

I want to highlight some new medications I'm excited to be carrying. The first one is called Librela and it is a pain medication for osteoarthritis in dogs. It is an injection that is given monthly. On average, it takes two doses to see a change. The benefits include it is effective at improving quality of life, safe, and convenient because you don't have to give daily medication. I have used it on my own dog with elbow pain and have seen significant improvement.

Heartworm disease is a real concern in our area. This is an injection your dog receives once yearly to prevent heartworm disease and is roughly the same price as the monthly preventatives, but you don't have to remember to give it. If you'd like to know more, please give us a call.
