BEAR HUNTING HEARING-FRIDAY MARCH 10th!
The bill will allow hunters to kill 50 bears in Litchfield County & is being supported by those who believe that killing CT's Black Bears is the answer to the states' population.
Bears are opportunistic feeders, they are not interested in us but looking for food found in trash cans, grills, bird feeders, unsecured chicken coops. Numerous studies have shown that killing bears does not answer the problem of habituated bears. Bears that are deep in the woods-the targets of the hunt-are not the problematic bears causing problems. Unless the underlying issues are addressed i.e. removing food you will never resolve bears showing up in a backyard-no matter how many bears are killed!

Hunters have already flooded the committee with testimony-Will you help protect our bears by sending in testimony opposing SB 1148?

Go to CT General Assembly's website: CGA.CT.gov Click on "Committees" Choose" Environment Committee"-Under the contact info for Environment Committee select "Submit Public Testimony" (under phone contact). Select the hearing Date: March 10th 11:30 and bill # SB1148, put your name and select Support or OPPOSE. you can also choose to send in a short statement.

IF YOU CARE ABOUT CT BEARS- DON'T LET THIS BILL PASS WITHOUT A FIGHT!! THIS WILL BE A BATTLE IF YOU SEE HOW MANY HAVE SUPPORTED THIS BILL!!

Go to CGA's website, Under Bills check Quick Bill- Under Schedule of Events, choose the date and bill number and click on View Testimony and Speaker Order.

The Connecticut General Assembly 2019 Regular Session convenes January 9th and adjourns June 5th
