Being in the schools on a daily basis and watching our canines interact with students in a variety of ways beyond their detection work, we, at the Interquest of Michigan office, recognized the potential of using a professionally trained canine to assist schools in their general school day and counseling offices. Our school counseling assistance and comfort dogs can pick up on emotions, mental stat

e and physical ailments and aid in bettering a student's behavior and experience in the school setting. Based on the multitude of research on the effectiveness of service dogs and therapy dogs to interact with all varieties of people, Interquest Detection Canines of Michigan developed a comprehensive training program to provide schools with a School Counseling Assistance or Comfort Dog. Trainer Kim Heys is a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, Drugbeat and Dogs for Law Enforcement and is also a certifying official for Interquest Detection Canines, Drugbeat and the AKC Canine Good Citizen program.

While visiting a class in summer school Chase was able to help a student that was having a rough start to her first day. She was nervous about being in a different building with different teachers. After petting Chase for a while she looked up and said she felt so calm now.
The whole class wanted to celebrate him and had “Chase day” today. He loved being pet and they loved having him visit and making their day better ❤️🐾

So very excited to share that Triscuit (named Flora at Paws) from our salty snacks litter who was donated to Paws With A Cause ® has found her place in the canine job world. She had a bit too much drive for service work so she was placed with Jordan Detection K9’s. She was paired and certified with Kathryn a detective in Oregon!! Way to go girl! ❤️🐾

Kai has finished his training as the Central Woodlands PRIDE pup!! We wanted this wonderful boy to get to spend his summer with his host home, the fifth grade teacher, Wes Beemer; however we felt it would be asking too much of his future Handler and Kai to have just a few days together and then go into summer vacation. So, we will train his future Handler and refresh Kai’s training the first week of school so they can certify and start the new school year fresh! So enjoy your summer Wes and Kai! And we look forward to finishing the official certification in the fall 🎉🐾

It’s going to be a Golden Summer 💛🐾
We feel so blessed that our friends at Paws With A Cause ® are sharing some wonderful goldens with us for our program. We will be introducing several new trainees over the next week or two. First up are Sasha and Chase!
Sasha is an almost two year old golden girl that is as sweet as she is spicy 🔥💕🐾
Chase turns 2 tomorrow along with his brothers Rubble and Kai from the paw patrol litter. He is another gentle giant 💙🐾

Solo update We put a lot of thought, time and energy into the puppies that we create so when we learned that Solo would be the only puppy in this last litter from Lacey, we did a lot of extra research on how to make sure that he was well socialized, and given the best foundation possible. I was overjoyed today, at 7 1/2 weeks old, when he made his first School visit. He walked in with confidence, loved every person he met, and was unfazed by several “scary“ things. He took everything in like a pro. We can’t wait to watch this boy grow up. This video is with the son in his future raiser home he will go to this weekend. ❤️🐾 See comments for additional videos because Facebook will only let me post one.

While still mostly a puppy himself at 9 months old, Sawyer is so gentle with Solo (almost 7 weeks old) and a great playmate to help him learn about dog interactions since he has no siblings of his own to play with ❤️🐾

Who doesnt love a happy wagging tail interrupting their computer work? I asked her if Diego was bothering her and she told me it felt good. Such a happy boy 😆🐾

Miss Phoenix completed 15 minutes of down stay with handler out of sight ✅

Dallas is doing great!! We are so excited to begin training his handler this week. Here is a sneak peek into his food drills today. After testing short periods, he held a 5 minute down stay left alone with food just fine! ❤️🐾
