NEW PUPPY OWNER .......
On the way of puppies to their new homes, I wanted to address a common problem breeders face with new owners.

Realistic Expectations
You see the pictures and videos of the breeder and the puppies are all social. They are quiet in the enclosure. The breeder shows you videos of them completely relaxed, happy and playful. Everything looks wonderful and you take your puppy home.

Then the reality hits.

1. On the first few nights, the puppy may cry in the crate, leaving you tired and restless.

2.Happy, cuddly puppy refuses to greet the half-dozen overly-excited friends you invited to see your new puppy. Or the over excited, playful children you have at home.

3.The puppy is refusing to walk on the harness.

Many wonder how my perfect puppy turned into a nightmare. So let’s talk about realistic expectations when a puppy comes home.

At first, the puppy was at the breeder's house from birth. He had his mother and often litter siblings. They had their routine, were introduced to expectations and were comfortable in their surroundings.

Now they are suddenly brought to a completely new environment. Imagine being exposed to an unknown country, often in a different part of the world. They only know a few words of the native language. Other trees, animals, smells, temperatures and people.

In the meantime, you change their routine, decide to party with people they don't know, and ask them to take on tasks they have no idea about. This is overwhelming, to say the least.

This is what every puppy goes through when they get to their new home. Stress comes in many forms. He doesn't eat, doesn't want to play and doesn't greet people. They're anxious when they have to go to the vet or when strangers approach them unexpectedly. Diarrhea, vomiting and depression can also occur.

So what can you do as a new owner to help your little one settle in?
- Most puppies take 3-4 weeks to adjust to their new homes. I repeat: THREE to FOUR WEEKS, sometimes even longer! Not just 1-2 days. I cannot stress enough how much time it takes for a dog or puppy to feel comfortable in their new home!
- Limit attendance within the first week. We understand you're excited to show off your new baby, but it will take time to adjust. Plan 1-2 weeks before inviting guests.
- Ask the guests to sit on the floor and let the puppies come to you. No squeaking and grabbing for the pup
- Establish a good routine
- confine puppy to a small area of house. Not only does this prevent it from being crowded, it also allows you to observe it.
- Don’t expect an 8-13 week old puppy to walk on a harness. Work at home instead with a harness he feels comfortable on. Let him play in it and encourage him with treats to go with you.
- If your puppy refuses to leave, give him time. On my first trips to town with pups, a walk around a small block took 1 1/2 hours. We only move when they initiate the movement because they need time to take in the new environment.
- Understand that your puppy needs time to see you as family. It’s unrealistic to expect instant attachment.
- train your puppy. This will not only help you build a bond, but also help the pup to orient and orientate towards you.
-Children are also a big stress factor for small, fragile puppies. Please keep your pup in check at all times when children are around. And always teach children to respect the animals space and be gentle.
- And finally, you should be patient. Don't explain, "something is wrong with this dog". Nothing happens overnight. Excursions should be planned at puppy pace. Even if you're imagining a nice walk around the lake, it's possible that your pup can only run a short distance that day.
Most outings take a very long time for me, as I often just stand there while the puppy carefully explores the new environment. Patience is the key.
Remember this: If the puppy was wonderful at the breeder but is struggling now, as the owner you need to help the puppy adjust, which takes time, patience and training. Have realistic expectations and give positive experiences to the pup. Every puppy is an individual. Don't compare your current puppy to past pets and don't judge their behavior based on how another dog did. Lastly, try to see things from the puppy's perspective and adjust situations accordingly.

I have received several messages that warrant an explanation about availability of my puppies.

I don’t sell puppies on Facebook, we just create content here for your enjoyment. The puppies are being trained and evaluated to see if they are show quality.

When I do have something available, I will be choosing homes from my list of approved homes. If you would like to apply to be an approved home, you may go to our website and fill out the form to get started. I will be in touch and you can start the interview process.

IMPORTANT INFO: 👇👇👇
Once you are an approved home, it’s important to know that puppies are not placed randomly so our list is NOT first come, first served.
Our puppies are our number one priority. We always will do our very best to place our puppies based on fit. We take into account your preferences before offering you a puppy but the important thing for us is your home life and finding the puppy whose personality best meets your lifestyle. This sets you both up for the greatest compatibility and success in your new life together. This process can take time.

If you are interested in just any puppy, my program is not suitable. If you want a more taylored experience, then this is where you should be. Happy hunting! Merry Christmas and if you are still interested in applying for consideration, click the link below to visit our website.

The day Vikki went into labor was a day like no other. As Hurricane Idalia approached closer and closer, the first stages of labor began. The panting became more pronounced as restlessness took over. I knew it was possible and her X-ray was scheduled for this very day. “I don’t even know how many pups she has”, I thought frantically as she paced back and forth. All the what if’s plagued my mind while the storm raged outside. There was no way to safely drive an hour north for the appointment today. It was just too risky. The eye of the storm was approaching and would pass by just 2 counties away at a category 2 status. I had no idea what to expect as I had never been in this situation before.

As the next few hours passed, so did the storm. It left as quickly as it came and by 6pm the rain and wind had all but stopped. But now we faced another challenge; tonight she would get a double whammy. Would she make it until morning? The signs were uncertain. As the hurricane left us in peace, the rare Super Blue Moon emerged. With the moon came the second stage of labor. She began nesting profusely, her panting was almost constant and her temperature dropped. “Here we go,” I thought, as darkness moved upon us.

It was a long night, I stayed up with her all night watching closely for “the bubble”. It had been nerve racking but I was hopeful she would wait until morning as she had the first time. She did just that. At 2pm, she was beginning to push. It was time, no turning back now! I prepared her place and got her calm and settled as I slid myself into the floor with a pillow to comfort her. By 3:20 the bubble appeared. We were as ready as we could be and I stayed right beside her in hopes that all would go smoothly, despite the events of the last 24 hours.

An hour passed but the bubble did not. It now appeared that there may be two bubbles! This is not good. Vet time immediately! I called and got the process started and let my aunt know that this couldn’t wait any longer. She told me that the local vet often stayed open late and that I should get her there. Against my judgement I took the extra 20 mins to try the vet in town, who promptly turned us away. It would now be an hour drive to the nearest emergency vet. I called to let them know I was on my way and my eta. I filled out the paperwork on my phone as I sat in the back with Vikki and my aunt drove. The quote for emergency section was $3,500-$6,500 with no way of knowing where in that range we would land.

We arrived at the emergency vet and they immediately took her back for observation and lab work. About 20 minutes later the vet tech came out to give me an update on her progress. They were prepping her for surgery and there were 4 puppies to birth. To both of our surprise, the Doctor stuck her head in and said, “We have feet!” We both gazed at her in shock with a puzzled expression to which she repeated, “We have feet sticking out! There’s a puppy on the way coming posterior position.” Apparently, what appeared to be two bubbles was in fact one twisted bubble and moments later “Idalia Storm” graced us with her presence as she entered this world.

By this time the Doctor felt surgery may not be necessary and that we should let her try to have a natural birthing experience, to which I agreed. After all, that is the goal. The second puppy out was a tiny black boy. (Pictured) which we Immediately named Blue after the Super Blue moon.
Over the next hour and a half we were graced by 2 more beautiful girls who have yet to be named.

I hope you have enjoyed this story 💕 All babies are doing well. Little boy Blue is not out of the woods yet, but he is thriving and I am helping mom give him his best start at life. All the girls are fat and happy and do their very best to keep their tiny brother warm and safe.
