A GOOD READ TO THE END🐾
For everyone who says they will never support kill shelters…I’m here to remind you that they are the ones that need our help the most.
⁣⁣⁣
I know what you’re thinking — that you could never support a facility that kills the animals. But those are the ones that we need to be supporting. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
WAIT! Stay with me, let me explain.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The facilities that most people refer to as “kill shelters” are typically the county run, open intake shelters. What does that mean?? That means legally they HAVE to take every single animal that comes through the door. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Even if they have zero open kennels. Even if the animal is too sick or behaviorally unsafe to release back to the public.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
When a dog or cat is brought in, if there are no open kennels and rescues/adopters do not help by pulling/adopting, the shelter has to make room somehow. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I’m not saying I like that, I’m saying we need to be adopting and rescuing/fostering for them, so they are able to have space for new animals coming in. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Now let’s talk “no kill” facilities like SPCAs. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
These are typically privately run facilities that are not open intake. They do not have to take all animals that come. So if they don’t have kennel space and someone wants to surrender an animal, they are able to turn them away. And then they do not have to worry about making space because they only take what they have the room for. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The rural county shelters are the ones that need our help. They need donations, rescue partners and adopters. They need our support! They tend to have limited resources and need the public’s support to save more animals. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
So please consider supporting your local county shelter when looking for your next family member or just want somewhere to volunteer your time!⁣⁣

Reflections of GREAT Leadership

Thank you Angie Greenup for making sure this baby found it's forever home instead of being dumped off in animal control and to the amazing foster that fostered until ready for that home.

They only live if you adopt or rescue.

Do not dump your pet in a shelter then scream you care.. Contact local rescue and also contact shelter and ask for RESCUE CONTACTS a good shelter will supply you a list.

There are many bad shelters all across the state and the nation but trust that no one with compassion or humanity wants to have to pts your pet because it ended up in a shelter.

This is not a mean post just honest.....

If you find a dog or a dog gets dumped on you and you can not keep that dog safe or hang onto it while notifying the shelter and or having scanned for a chip in the off chance a great owner chipped and their beloved pet escaped one time, then please call the shelter and have them come and get that pet to keep it safe, not run off and possibly get hit and killed and or worse. It is their job. At the end of the day while it breaks my heart for a dog or cat or any animal to land in a shelter, it is at times far better than what could happen..
If you see someone dump a dog write down the date exact time and what they are driving and take notes of all that you can, if on road location and description of the vehicle and person or persons and if you can get a tag or take a picture and then follow through with police and the shelter. By law they must act on this as it is a punishable crime and should be treated like one. Stop the good ole boy bs and start holding scum accountable.

Okay what is going on now with the shelter.. This is why the two that "both" keep telling people they are in charge of the shelter (meaning the david and Tony), should not have jobs there. Darn shelter has dog catchers.
This is very sketch against the shelter and I am guessing TONY WILSON the DIRECTOR... or dog catcher or which every he is on this situation..
But I am telling you he has no right to do this.. If you go missing your pet and have proof demand to see the animals.. Go to the JUDGES OFFICE and post it public..
I think if you are outraged by this then call the JE.. He gets rid of people who do their jobs and care about the animals.
I wonder if someone wanted this kitty and that is why they are telling this family they can not have their kitty.. has happened before..... has happened with dogs also..
Call them out...
What happened to this place full of dog catchers and not people who care.. You can returned abused neglected starved dogs, dogs near death but try keeping the kitty...
Shame on you...

And to those that are just dog catchers and killers and could careless well,,,,, we know what we think of you.. But to all those that bust their butts for the animals and all the rescues and volunteers that give their all then hats off and much love to each..

It takes nothing to be a dog catcher or slack your way to a shelter job and any animal job but to be a compassionate animal warrior it takes much. You are all super heros with compassion ..

Yes, take note Bullitt County and other counties on how Fayette County got justice for this sweet baby💞

In February we responded to an animal welfare call regarding a pit bull puppy named Queen. Her owner was captured on video striking her in the head, and when she tried to run away - they picked her up by her harness and threw her down a flight of stairs.

We immediately took custody of Queen and had her evaluated by Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists + Animal Emergency. Despite her abuse, she only presented with minor abrasions. She was full of life—happy, loving, and trusting of those around her.

We are happy to report that Queen has found a new, forever home! Her previous owner is spending time in jail as a result of their actions.

To report abuse or neglect, please call us at 859-255-9033. Our animals rely on YOU to be the eyes and ears in the community. Let's work together to keep them safe!

Coal update.. This precious boy Angie Webb-Greenup saved from a life of torture and hell, where he and his siblings were locked in a dark ( yes pitch black all day and night ) with no food and water and no human contact... He was terrified and basically feral. Skinny and a hot mess.. Now look at him.. She never ever thought to kill him or his sibling. They all stay in touch with her and so do thousands of animals she has helped.. Coal has a fantastic life and is so loved and has a family that loves him so much and has multiple furry siblings. He is a beloved furry son and grandson in a family that worked hard to prove they were worthy of his love and trust, all because Angie the prior director said LIFE NOT DEATH.. and guess what she held the loser accountable for the way they did these beloved babies.. Damn that was when we had more than a damn dog catcher... we had passionate animal control Director...
