Ignore any DMs from us about a 68’ Camaro- it’s a virus that Facebook refuses to fix!

We might be considering our page to eliminate this on going issue!

Every year brings its own challenges and this one will be no different. I think deep down I always knew this day would come.

We have had Dip’N Dot as a “foster fail” for over 5 years. In March of 2020 we received a call from one of my client’s vet’s office to help assess a stray dog that was dumped on the road outside of their building.

After his assessment, we discovered he was completely DEAF and almost immediately I was asked if I could train/foster him, otherwise they were going to be forced to euthanize him by the end of the week 😅😮‍💨

I didn’t know at the time, that two days later the world was going to shut down [covid] and we were going to end up liable for him for the next five+ years.

Over time we have laid down a solid foundation and provided him with clear, consistent communication via hand signs & body language, as well conditioned him to the e-collar. Yes— he is a deaf dog that is successfully, off-leash trained, thanks to the e-collar! Along with being off-leash trained, he is crate trained, conditioned to a sliplead & prong collar, treadmill trained, and fully comfortable in a muzzle!

What breed is he you ask? He’s a “working breed” meaning he needs a job. We think/have been told he’s a mixed with a and the shoe certainly fits. If he doesn’t have a job, he will wreak havoc like a bull in a china shop. How old? 5-6 years (we think).

He loves going on runs/hikes/off-leash and is a huge fan of tug and fetch! As long as he is fulfilled, he is great at settling in on his bed/cot and chewing on a bone until he falls asleep.

Dip (aka Derp) is a goofball at heart and absolutely loves attention but is also great at being neutral. He’s a field trip friendly dog for sure! People can’t say enough good things about him when we go out in public, even if he is wearing his muzzle! He certainly steals the show everywhere he goes.

Throughout his time at the Co-Op our business has grown significantly, as well as Dip’s frustrations and needs. With our lifestyle, we haven’t been able to provide the attention he needs as a working breed dog, which in turn has caused him to become more [dog] aggressive. This of course is a major liability for our business as well as a mental strain in our day-to-day life. His reactivity originally stemmed from being attacked in 2020 by a large, male, off-leash dog and it has since grown from there.

As a human, business owner, wife, dog mom— I know continuing this lifestyle is not what’s best for him or my mental health or the future of our home. That being said, we have decided what is best for everyone is for Dip to find his |true| forever home [before having to consider BE].

Curious? He makes a great companion but would do best with a younger, active owner, who prefers a single-dog household. He is GREAT with people/kids and cats. He does shed (sorry no HA here) but has a short coat, is easy to groom and doesn’t mind nail trims either!

I have to have hope that ^this^ home
exists for him somewhere out there. We are willing to travel further but would prefer for him to stay local to the triad or at least in the state. With that being said, we of course would continue working with him and his new handler/owner to help build their relationship and make the transition as seamless as possible!

It has taken me years to make this post.
We have had this discussion so many times but I can feel in my gut this time,
this is what feels right. It’s time.

If you or anyone else you know would be interested in adopting this handsome fella, please let us know privately, via direct message!

For our own privacy and mental health purposes, we will not be allowing any comments on this post. Any negativity or hate will be deleted and all accounts associated with such will be blocked immediately.

Thank you and God Bless 🤍

Thursday, March 6- Monday, March 10

It’s that time of year again 🏀

For those of you that have been following me from the start, you know my other passion in life outside of dogs is dancing! 💃🏻

For the last 9 years, I have been the Head Dance Team Coach for The University of North Carolina, Greensboro {} and every year during the month of March, we head to Asheville, North Carolina for the Southern Conference Basketball Tournament.

Our Women’s Basketball Team is going into the conference in 1st place and our men’s team is currently ranked 2nd!

We hope both teams make it all the way to finals so we can truly go dancing again at the NCAA tournament 😎 Wish us luck and we’ll see yall next week!

✨ RIVER ✨

It’s not every day you see a pure bred and this handsome boy was a joy to work with!!

River just graduated from our day training program and he was a superstar 🤩

He came to us sweet but stubborn, a bit insecure, unwilling to go in his kennel, not motivated by his food (odd for a hunting dog) and easily distracted - no surprises here.

Only coming in for day training 2x a week, he made huge strides and his owners played a big part in that; they were consistent with their homework and applying what they learned throughout their day to day life back at home!

He learned how to properly socialize with other dogs and people in a calmer, neutral way and ended the program off-leash reliable on the remote collar {}

Our Day Training program launched this year and has been a huge hit! It’s the perfect in between for clients who don’t have the time for 1:1’s but don’t want to leave their dog for multiple weeks.

Click the link in our bio for more information, we’re currently booking for April!

The first question I ask when people come to me for reactivity is:

“What does a day in your dog’s life look like?”

Most of the time I hear things like:

- no rules/boundaries
- not using a crate/kennel
- free reign to do whatever
- free feeding meals
- free furniture privileges
- sleeping in bed with the owner
- walks are a nightmare (if they walk at all)

Focus on cleaning up your dog’s behavior in the home FIRST.

Meet our first *official* Daily Training Client, NORM (not short for Norman).

Norm joined the Co-Op in January for our NEW *unlimited*
For 4 weeks, Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm, Norm spent his days learning the ways of a healthy, balanced lifestyle!

After being improperly trained on the e-collar (by another trainer) he came to us a little all over the place. He was wide open, unmotivated, distracted, disengaged, and didn’t have a clue on who was running the show.

Each day we focused on the fundamentals of dog training: DOG PSYCHOLOGY, mindset, relationship, motivation, clear communication, timing, consistency and so much more.

We taught him and his owner what the proper use of an e-collar looked like and helped re-condition him to the tool in a way that brought out clarity and confidence- not fear (yes, you can do this!)

Norm went home a calm & confident dog who had a healthy, balanced relationship with his owner (and they got to be involved all along the way!)

1 month.. 4 weeks.. 20 days.. that’s all it took for Norm and his owner to have a completely different outlook on life; the that is!

We are so excited for their future and can’t wait to have him back soon for boarding!

Camper 🏕️

He may not look like it in pictures but this guy is one Happy Camper!

Along with his strikingly handsome looks, this guy was too smart for his own good. A bully breed mix from a rescue with a stubborn personality as strong as his physique! Naturally his owners needed some {major} help.

Camper started out in our 1:1 private lesson program to help with crate training, separation anxiety, and to get in some foundational work. His owners live a busy life and needed to start learning some of the lifestyle changes that were necessary for his future success.

Due to skillset and availability, he ended up joining our board and train program to get properly trained on the e-collar as well as continue working on his separation anxiety and level up his distraction work [he had some pretty inconsistent leash reactivity].

He was a great sport all along the way and we absolutely loved ending the year on a high note with him! Take a peek at his highlight reel for his transformation!
