Cross training! Rei got to experience the flag today and we took advantage of the moment to encourage forward canter transitions and look! The witch didn’t make an appearance! 🧙♀️❌
Someone smelled sheep on my boots and was remembering her pasture buddies of by gone days. 🐑 I think she was reflecting on how they were so much easier to get along with than her current pasture buddy. 😂
We were a mess today because of of... a mini donkey. Who Rei knows. And is not scared of. But is actually so desperately in love with that she couldn’t possibly focus on anything other than him. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Rei has been having some trouble recently being a good girl...
Rei would like a chew toy for Christmas 🎄 😂
As we’ve been getting closer and closer to a more finished canter on Rei, I’ve been wanting to work on her free lunging over smalls jumps again to start preparing her for jumping under saddle. This is the first time we’ve free lunged over a jump in probably 6-8 months and I’d say the break did her good!
The old lady is not impressed with Rei’s attempts to make her come play 😴🐴😂
This was another big milestone today! A year ago this mare was so buddy sour she’d throw a full on tantrum if she was even thought she was being led away from her friends. Now look at her!
Jennifer Tensley has been kind enough to let me use her lovely gelding, Rambo, for some lessons and it’s safe to say he’s a hit with everyone so far! My little student this morning rode Macy but fell in love with Rambo so quickly she asked if she could help lead him back to his stall. 💕
Very striking storm clouds rolled in tonight just as lessons ended.
Someone had a lot of fun on her day off.
Free lunging over jumps is a great way to build the confidence of a horse who is green to jumping. Take care not to chase the horse, however, and merely give them support if they need it.
