As of today, October 15, 2024, Rachael's Pet Care is officially closed.

I want to extend my gratitude to all of you for trusting me with the care of your pets over the past three years. It has been a privilege to serve you and your furry companions.

I am excited about my new adventure and graduating from the University of Florida! 🐊 However, I will miss seeing my clients and their fur babies. Know that those memories will always be in my heart.

❗ Today is Day - a day raising awareness about the cruel reality of pet store puppies and the puppy mills that they come from. These large-scale breeding facilities treat dogs like products. The dogs live in cramped, overcrowded, and filthy conditions without proper veterinary care, food, water, and socialization. The puppies are then trucked across the country to be sold in pet stores and online. Pet stores (like Petland Jax, Puppies Galore and More, and BFF Puppies) misrepresent where their puppies come from and continue to exploit them for profit. If you’re considering adding a new pet to your family, we encourage you to adopt from a local shelter or rescue, or learn how to identify a responsible breeder to ensure you’re not supporting cruel breeding practices like those found in puppy mills.

In addition, when you see signs on the corners of roads labeling that they have dogs for sale, this is an indicator of a backyard breeder who keeps their dogs in the same conditions.

I know it's Florida, but it's getting hot! ☀️🔥 Please remember that your furry friend cannot handle being outside for very long at mid-day, and the pavement is too hot for their paws. The best time to walk your dog is in the morning and at night. Find shaded routes! And be sure to carry water for your furry friend, too! Let's remember to keep them safe, and have a wonderful summer 😁
