We got Dori when she was just a baby. I saw a picture of her litter and immediately knew she was the one. She was the third dachshund to join our family as the breed grew on us after the first two and their unique, stubborn personalities.

On the drive home, she decided to lay on my husband’s shoulder and stayed there most of the trip. She’d continue to find his shoulder to take a nap when she was just a puppy, I’m not sure when she grew out of that. In her last moments with us, she gave a quick walk around my shoulders as she had so many times in the past to show us her excitement about us holding her - it broke my heart and warmed it at the same time.

She was the first female dog we had, and it was definitely a different experience. She knew she had us wrapped and wasn’t afraid to let us know it. We had a saying in our house, “Dori do what Dori want!”, and boy did she!! When she was about 3 years old I was wearing a knit hat with a big ball on top and she was eyeballing that thing like she would have that ball one day. A few days later, I left the hat on a side table and when I came home that ball on top was destroyed!! I couldn’t even be mad about it, I just imagined how happy she must have been to have defeated that ball of yarn! She did the same thing one Christmas when we left the box of our gift wrapping supplies on the floor. We came home to bows and ribbons strewn about the living room. I still laugh about it when I see some of the ribbon rolls with bite marks in them…next season I’m sure it will bring about different feelings, but I’ll still smile knowing how much she must have enjoyed herself that day!!

Dori loved everyone and would attack them with kisses as soon as they picked her up. Her whole body would wag with happiness whenever we came home or someone came to visit. She didn’t have a mean bone in her body, but she did have lots of sass and gave better side eye than any pet or person I’ve ever met!! She learned to let us know she needed to go potty by ringing the bell, and would often ring the bell even when the doggy door was open, I swear she’d do it just to prove she had us trained!

These are the memories of Dori that we will hold with us when thinking of our baby girl, and we can only hope she met up with her brother, Max, as she loved him dearly. Rest in peace baby girl and know how much we all love you!

Our sweet Ducky boy was larger than life, in more ways than one.
He had been by our side for nearly 8 years, providing nothing but love, comfort, snuggles, laughs, and a lifetime of amazing memories.
He grew up alongside our 2 girls, Molly and Maple. He loved to gallop around the yard with them and lay around while they played. He was always willing to let them climb all over him, and would even buck them off and send them flying every once in a while. As they grew older, he was the first to greet them when they came home, and always made room on HIS couch for a snuggle.
Ducky also served as protector and guide for his fur siblings. His big pug brother Chuck would follow in his footsteps whenever it was time to go anywhere, and his goofy little Golden sister Ruby would hop around him outside while he lay on the grass, weighing the anchor. Those two loved him so much and miss him like crazy.
He was the best “fighter” when he played with his Dad, and always lent a paw when they would go outside to do the chores. Sunbathing while Daddy mowed the lawn was a special Ducky talent, and he was the best at it.
What Ducky meant to me, his Mama is too much to put into words. He was my boy, and he had my heart. I’m not sure if he knew how much I needed him, but man, I needed him. I miss him sitting on my lap(yes, he was a 215lb lap dog), or squishing onto the couch next to me. I’ll miss him pawing at me to keep scratching his ears in the middle of the night and boofing at me to keep rubbing his belly. He was the best, and we are so thankful for the time we had with him.
We know he is looking down on us now and still protecting us in a special way.
Ducky, we hope you’re up there laying in the sun, eating all the string cheese you want, and getting so much love from family and friends who have gone before you.
Thank you for being our big boy. We will always love you, sweet Ducky.

Lucy joined our family in 2010; from day one, we knew Lucy belonged with us and that feeling only grew stronger over the 14 years she was the heart of our family. She was loyal, sweet, and, even as a puppy, wise beyond her years. Lucy struggled with her health for many years. She was diabetic, partially blind and deaf, and had cancer, yet Lucy was the most resilient dog. Lucy persevered through daily shots of insulin, endless medications, and a tough surgery to remove a large tumor. Even in her last days, we were convinced she would somehow beat the odds again. I am sure she would have kept pushing through, wagging her tail the whole time, but it was time for our sweet Luce to rest.

Some of Lucy’s biggest joys: laying by Dad in his office, the fireplace, her teddy bear, carrots, her sister, Ruby (most of the time), cuddling on the couch, walks, and Mom (anywhere Mom was, Lucy was).

Lucy is home to us, and it is hard to imagine life without her by our side. We love you and miss you so much, Lucy.

Diamond was a sister, a friend, and a place of comfort. Whether it be squirrels, planes, or the mail man she always had something to say about it. She taught her dog sister how to be a dog and always encouraged her to play. When she wasn’t playful she had a kind heart and would always come comfort whoever was having a hard time. When we found out she had cancer, our hearts shattered. The kindest little soul had been dealt a cruel card of life. And while it hurts to see her go sooner than expected, we are glad that she is now at peace.

Love,
Her Family

Bizzie came to us 10 years ago when she was 4. Ever since, she has warmed our hearts and brought us so much joy. She loved running outside in her big backyard barking at the other dogs, lazing on the couch with her blankies, going to the park with her Daddy, eating anything her humans were eating, including steak, burgers, turkey, ham, and cheese, and giving kisses. She always welcomed visitors (except other dogs) and she loved being petted and loved. She was a great dog, and we will miss her so much. She will live on in our hearts always. See you over the rainbow bridge, sweet girl. Hope you are running through warm meadows, chasing butterflies, squirrels, and other dogs, doing cute Bizzie stuff. ❤️

This is in memory of our beloved Simba,

Our majestic Simba came to us as a puppy and brought so much love and joy into our lives. He was full of life and was set in his ways, right from the get-go. He explored the trails and hikes all over Colorado with us, and passed through several stages of our lives- from being a couple, to parents of two children..he saw it all. He loved car rides, nature walks and just hanging with his family. We adored our dear Simba and miss him very much.

To all the miles and milestones crossed together...Thank you, dear Simba. We love you! You were the best puppy we could have had. You came to us at the right time and saw us through. You brought us love, life, and absolute cuteness with your presence. I know you are in the best place but you were the best dog.

We love you. We miss you.

Your Family.
