❤️❤️❤️ A VERY happy pupdate for Little Lady ❤️❤️❤️
If you remember our post from a couple of weeks ago, Little Lady was going to be a hospice foster due to cancer. Well, quite a lot has changed with her. Her radiographs were sent off for a 2nd opinion and they determined that what they thought were tumors were actually enlarged organs and that there was a foreign object inside of her that may be causing internal bleeding. They wanted to do an exploratory surgery to see what was inside her stomach but with her being a senior and having such abnormal bloodwork, surgery would be extremely risky. However the day we found out about the 2nd opinion, her little eyeball also decided to collapse which made surgery a necessity instead of an option.
She got surgery the next day and thankfully it went really, really well. She got her eye removed, her remaining teeth removed, and they did the exploratory surgery and found a huge piece of glass in her stomach that she somehow ate at some point prior to rescue. We’re talking about a piece of glass bigger than the size of a quarter that was sitting in this little 7 pound angel’s stomach for who knows how long. Along with that, they pulled out from her tummy an acrylic nail and many leaves. We think our poor girl was so hungry she was eating anything and everything she could off the street. They do believe the glass could have been causing her bloodwork to mimic cancerous levels because they also confirmed during the exploratory surgery that the things they thought were tumors on the images were in fact enlarged organs. During surgery, they also confirmed that her jaw has been broken in multiple places. However, it was determined that these injuries occurred a very long time ago so they have healed pretty well on their own and there’s nothing they can or need to do surgically for this. She got her staples and stitches removed on Friday and has another appointment on Tuesday for bloodwork which will truly tell us if the glass was the only issue or not so we all have our fingers crossed that it was.
THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has been praying for her and cheering her on. She is living proof that miracles do happen, even though we aren’t out of woods just yet... this is a pretty huge step in the right direction. Please keep her in your hearts as we await her bloodwork date and her results.
