Enjoy the tranquility…
Eventually, their bodies will start to let them down
Their ears won’t hear your whistle the same,
And their site will diminish
They are going to need that extra food
Because they won’t be able to hold the weight they used to
The once fire breathing dragon, will start to show their age
And the only excitement they will have is when you walk out into the field to give them a pat or bringing them in for food
If your lucky enough to have them through retirement
Enjoy the calm
Enjoy the peace
Enjoy the tranquility..

This one’s going to be a little different because as much as I’m giving this mare the retirement she deserves, I was never the person that she chose.
Horses pick their people, and I’d say this mare made one hell of a choice picking this beautiful soul as her person 10 years ago.
Her story through a different lens than my own 🫶🏻
“From hoarded to honored.
Cleopatra had such an unbelievably rough beginning to life.
You taught me so much, but first and foremost that every shattered soul can be put back together with unconditional love and a bit of patience.
Cleo was never planned to appear or stay in my life but god am I blessed that she did. You tough me perseverance, to never give up and take things stride by stride.
Each day is a new beginning and the next is never promised. So today we try our best and live and learn.
You’ve taught me that Comparison is the theif of joy, we might not have what everyone else does but we have what we fight for and anything we fight for is worth it and so much more valuable.
However nothing more valuable then family and the people we hold near and dear.
I watched this horse go from a flighty, anxious and drained mare that not many people would give the time of day.
To a proud mare holding herself high and loving on all the humans around her.
She has worked so hard to please and take care of people.
She’s been leased out to so many kiddos and always went bearing lessons and so much love. She is a girl you can trust and confide in. Thats not to say she can’t be a sassy spunky, crab walking drama queen.
With every drop of blood, sweat and tears this mare has taught me so much and learned so much. I’ll forever be grateful to you Cleo.”

As you can probably tell she was a huge part of our childhood
She is one of few horses left of our original herd and I’m beyond grateful that I can be as dedicated to her now, as she was to us kids for all those years.
An older horse from a rescue situation getting to live out her days in retirement, is considered pretty lucky
But I think we were the lucky ones after all 🍀
