Thank you guys SO much for sending donations. I was shocked to receive this book that I’ve been waiting for to be published and already started reading it. It looks like an amazing learning tool and reference to use. And I love reading your notes, they really do make my day. ❤️

Laser is so energetic and playful, full of purrs, in his teething bite everything stage. His vision is severely impaired but nothing stops him - he is a tiny tornado in house panther form.

Finally after months of Panleukopenia and everything that came with it (losing kittens, the Hissy Spitty committee surviving, quarantine, more quarantine and finally being adopted) the nursery was emptied out. The cage system came apart. the playpen came apart. 5 outdoor trash bins filled. A full gallon of Rescue used to disinfect every little piece.

Today the nursery is being put back together and I am SO excited to share the end result. 😺

This little dude is the definition of adorable. He’s so happy all the time (especially when he’s eating), so curious, adventurous and playful. He absolutely loves wrestling with his stuffies and hopefully can meet a new friend soon.

✨DECEMBER✨

It’s the last month of 2024. How did that happen? This year ENC Kitten Nursery had 34 fosters, many for longer term care. The losses this year hit hard but I’m still thankful for being able to love kittens like Ollie and Thalia for the time they had.

Laser is doing great. This picture is from a few days ago, his eyes look much better now. I’m pretty certain that he can at least see shadows. He’s such a happy, loving, purr machine of a boy. Yesterday I finished sanitizing outside (in 47°) so today I’m spending time in the nursery with this love bug sanitizing the walls, floorboards, window and supplies. ☃️🎉🐾

Happy 🍁🍎🎃

Here’s a look at the new lives of Maple Sugar, Apple Cider, and Pumpkin Spice. I’d say they all won their own personal lottery.

I’m incredibly grateful to be able to do this work. I’m grateful that the Itty Bitty Hissy Spitty Committee came home with me, and led me to all of YOU! Never in a million years did I imagine one of my cute little foster kitten IG reels would go viral. Your support has meant the world to me. Going through panleukopenia for the first time, losing kittens, throwing out a ton of supplies, getting the IBHSC (and Bernie) through panleuk and ending their ENC Kitten Nursery story by adopting them into the most incredible forever homes.. it has been a whirlwind 3 months. Today I’m sanitizing the nursery so I can put it back together with new items from so many of you. I cannot say thank you enough for your support, and the messages and comments you’ve all sent. It takes a village to save kittens and I truly feel like I have my very own village thanks to you. ❤️

✨APPLE CIDER✨ The moment everyone has been waiting for and wondering about. Apple Cider has officially resigned from her role as President of the Itty Bitty Hissy Spitty Committee, and has been adopted and has settled into her new home.

Her forever family is incredible and I’m lucky to call her new mama a friend. Apple now has 2 human brothers and 3 doggy brothers. I couldn’t have dreamt of a better family for this special girl. The whole family was onboard for taking things slow, continuing socialization sessions, and giving Apple space when she needed it. I’m beyond grateful for the love, care, and home this family has given to Apple. 🍎 ❤️

Apple Cider, leader of the Itty Bitty Hissy Spitty Committee, went through some intensive socialization for a few weeks. With very unsocialized kittens who are older or just on the cusp of the socialization period, one of the most essential things to do is to separate them. I know that’s hard to do - especially when we say kittens are better with other kittens - but it’s a necessary step. Separating unsocial kittens, or even removing just the leader of the squad (like in this case) enabled 2 things to happen:
1- Apple Cider (Vinegar) had to rely on me as her companion, playmate, provider of food, and sole interaction with a living being.
2- Maple and Pumpkin were given the space to make their own decisions about people without the leadership of Apple, whose behavior was teaching them to not trust me, to run, hide, hiss etc.

Sitting with Apple several times each day, never (ever, ever) forcing her to do anything, giving her treats (did someone say Churu?), using a calm tone when talking, and reading her body language were all tools I used in Apple’s sessions.

Pumpkin Spice has gone to her new forever home. These are her final nursery pictures… until I get to kitten-sit in a few weeks!!! 3 months ago Pumpkin wouldn’t look at me without growling, cowered and hissing, she’d climb anything possible to get away from me. She blossomed into such a sweet, playful, talkative (especially at mealtime!), curious girl. And the best part? Her new parents are prior adopters of kittens, who were both orange boys! 🍊🍊🍊

Mouse is gone. He declined so rapidly, already dealing with coccidia and seemingly coming down with pneumonia - he stopped eating, wasn’t maintaining his temperature, constantly covered in p**p. I’ll always fight for a tiny baby, until I feel like they’re suffering; at that point I’ll choose what’s best for them.

Side note, swipe to video: Mouse was also having trouble eating. His pallet was normal and his teeth, from what I could see, looked normal. Have you ever experienced a kitten grinding its teeth like this? If there’s anything I can learn from Mouse, I’d like to understand this.

Maple🍁Sugar is going to her forever family in just about one hour! I couldn’t have picked a better mama for this sweet bundle of biscuits. She’s going to be so loved and spoiled. It’s been an absolute joy watching her grow up from that tiny, shy little sapling I met 3 months ago.

I was supposed to be closed for intakes for the next few weeks. I was so excited to be empty after Maple leaves on Monday, ready for a much needed break. But then I met these boys in the triage area of the shelter. Names and more info on each kitten coming soon.

No babies for baby Maple! 🍁

Her spay surgery went great! I snuggled her until she came out of anesthesia and when we got home an hour later she was purring and making biscuits. There is no kitten sweeter than Maple Sugar 💖
