Today is Veteran's Day that began at the end of World War 1 on November 11th to honor and remember those who gave their lives for OUR freedom and protection. Please don't take your freedom lightly. It has been paid for with a price.

To all our military who are now serving, we thank you as well.

For some reason yesterday I kept thinking about Elle. The morning as clients dropped off their dogs, at lunch, when I saved my bread for her, on the drive home...
I miss her so...

I missed you quietly today. So quietly that no one noticed.

I missed you as I climbed out of bed and as I brushed my teeth; when I waited at the lights on the drive into work and as I heard the rain outside my window.

I missed you as I ordered lunch and as I kicked off my shoes when I got home; as I switched off the lights and climbed into bed for the night.

I missed you without tears or noise or fanfare.
But oh how I felt it.
I felt it in the morning, at lunchtime, in the evening and at night. I felt it as I woke, as I waited, as I worked. I felt it at home, on the road, in the light, in the dark, in the rain.

I felt it in every one of those moments, each one sitting heavier and heavier as the weight of me missing you kept growing and growing.

Yes, I missed you so quietly today.

But I felt it so loudly.

Congratulations to Emilee and her puppy, Tilly for passing the American Kennel Club's STAR puppy test!
This is especially awesome as Tilly is deaf and partially blind in one eye.

We taught her using sign language and Lazer lights.
She is such a delight.
We can learn so much from animals. Tilly is a very happy puppy and has decided to enjoy her life even with her disabilities.
She makes me laugh and smile so much when I'm around her. I hope her mom will continue training and maybe Tilly would become a therapy dog at the VA Hospital or the Children's Hospital.
Keep on smiling Tilly.

Requirements: Dogs must be vaccinated as directed by your veterinarian and
have proof of rabies. Must be non-aggressive with dogs and people.

Purpose of the class: This class prepares you for a therapy dog and the
CGC-A test by actually practicing the test! We rehearse each part and help you strengthen the areas you need the most. We have all the props and
experience! We cannot guarantee your passing of a test, but our clients
have done well on the tests in the past.

Prices: 7 Classes and registration for $225

Thursday nights at 6:30 PM
Dates: Orientation Aug. 29th 2024,then Sept.5,12,19,26,Oct. 3rd and 10th

TDI test Saturday October 19th, 2024 9:30-11:30 AM

Fall 2024 Schedule- AKC Scent work

What: We will be starting a New Scent Work Class based on AKC

When: on Tuesday Afternoons at 1 PM

Where: K-9 Capers Dog Training Academy

How to attend: You must pre-register at 704 721 6757 or email at [email protected]

AKC Scent Work is a sport that is based on the task of working detection dogs to locate a scent and communicate to the handler that the scent has been found . Detection is done in a variety of environments and often during changing conditions . Scent Work is a positive, challenging activity
that rewards your dog for doing their favorite activity: sniffing!

$ 40 per class per dog or 6 sessions for $210 -includes scent kits/tins)

2024 Summer Camp was a blast!
We decided to have some healthy competition for loose leash and recalls.
We had prizes for the competition but had lots of dogs that were really great!

It's not easy losing your fur-child,friend, and business partner all in one evening. ELLE is, and will always be the best. I'm not sure how I'll go on without you. I pray you are running in the fields of green you loved so much.

You were there at the beginning of my business years ago,you were with me when we started the assisted-therapy program for autistic children in the schools as a therapy dog, you were there when I had summer camp for kids, you were AlWAYS there when I needed you through it all.
I love you Elle, and I always will...

Today, as you know is a day to remember the precious lives given for our personal freedom. The freedom so many don't understand what that truly means.

Please take time today to pray for all the families that have lost a loved one while defending our great nation.

I'll be flying my flag today with great respect to those who gave their own lives for yours and mine.

What a great week with two service dogs graduating our program.

Geoff and his hearing dog, Sheila,and Gary and his service dog, Molly Hope.

We had a special service today with the help of Scout Troop Pack #888 at the veterans park to award war veteran Gary Ritter with a trained service dog at no cost to the family for his service to our country.

Geoff and Sheila had a tough task with many hours working on specially trained alerts. Geoff was an amazing student and we are proud of his accomplishments.

As always it is bittersweet as we have spent a long time together over the many months training however, exciting to see them ready for the big wide world!
