We'll see everyone bright and early tomorrow morning!!

Remember, there is a 5 cat limit per person per day. If you bring more than 5 cats in one day we will have to turn the extra cats away.

Last month we had at least 5 brand new volunteers 🥳 We love having new volunteers join us because it means even more people helping all the kitties who come through our clinic.

For August, we'd like to beat that number and have at least 6 NEW volunteers. So, if you've been thinking about volunteering but haven't so yet, this is your month! Check out our open August volunteer spots below 👇

Animal traps are scary things for cats who are already prone to being skittish!

To get your strays used to the trap before you go to trap them, leave the trap out for a couple of days so they can investigate it and get curious. By the time you're ready to trap, they'll be even more interested when they see food inside!

Help make the storm a little less scary for the shelter animals by taking one home to foster for the week!

They just shared that all the cats and kittens are adopted but there are still plenty of dogs and puppies who need our help. The shelter is open till 5pm!

🚨EMERGENCY STORM FOSTERS NEEDED! 🚨

With the potential threat of severe weather conditions, our shelter animals would rather ride out the storm in your home than in the shelter.

If you’d like to become an emergency storm foster, please visit our shelter at 131 Central Berkeley Drive in Moncks Corner. We are opening our doors at 10 am on Monday, August 5 for people to pick up an animal.

All supplies will be provided! We just ask you provide a loving home.

If there's anyone who gets wanting to keep strays off the streets, it's us! However there are sooo many stray and feral cats in the south that it makes getting all of them off the street impossible. Plus, the shelters simply can't handle taking care of all of them.

That's why it's so important to prioritize the strays we rescue! Our program is for all the other stray cats who, after getting TNR'ed, will be able to live a happy life outside.

So before you try to rescue a local stray, consider the below and if they can be TNR'ed instead, TNR that cat!

🚨IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR AUGUST'S CLINIC 🚨

Going forward, there will be a 5 cat limit (per person, per day) for every person who comes through the clinic. We are making this change in the hopes that we can get more people through the clinic so even more colonies can be helped.

If you have any questions, please send us a private message and we'll help you out!

Thank you in advance for your cooperation!!

If you're new to TNR, it can be hard to know where to start or what cats to start with. The easiest way to tell if a cat has been through TNR or not is if their ear is tipped, like in the photo below!

Now, some strays might have parts of their ears missing from a past fight, but if the cut looks clean then it was likely intentionally tipped. When in doubt, take the cat to the vet so they can help confirm it!

Let's celebrate some TNR success stories!!

This little guy is Gregory 🐈‍⬛ He's an old man kitty who started showing up in my yard earlier this year and he had major tomcat energy. I brought him through the clinic 1 month later and he quite literally hasn't left my yard since 😂 Now he spends his 'retirement' years sleeping on my patio furniture waiting for this next meal.

We've gotten a lot of messages lately from people who need help rehoming strays or find kittens and want them to find a home. While we can't help with that just yet, there are so many resources available! Check out the image below for some👇 Courtesy of No Kill South Carolina 2024

Please note, you'll need to talk with any of these places to confirm they can help you before bringing cats to them.

As a reminder for those with appointments, you must be at the shelter by 7:30am at the latest to keep your spot. Arriving later than that will cause your appointment to be forfeited.

It's time for our monthly reminder to please please PLEASE don't leave trapped cats out in the heat for an extended period of time!! July is the hottest month of the year for us in South Carolina, so we need to keep an extra close eye on the kitty friends we trap this month.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/qCgfLzHKsrWE9ru7/

🚨 Attention all trappers!!🚨 As we enter the hottest months of the year, it's extra important to keep temperatures in mind. If you are trapping cats during the day, please keep an eye on your traps and DO NOT leave a cat in direct sunlight for any longer than necessary!

A cat left in a trap in direct sunlight for too long can get dehydrated and other health problems can arise. So please check your cats frequently and bring your cats into a garage or shed to keep them out of the sun!

Are you interested in this program but don't want the commitment of trapping cats? Volunteering is the perfect option!

We have shifts ranging from 4 hours to 6 hours long for all different kinds of jobs like: check-in, post-op recovery, surgical coordinator, data entry, check-out, and more. None of these jobs require any prior training, we will give all the training you need when you come for your shift 😊

When picking the food you're using to trap with, the smellier the better! People have told us fried chicken works great, and even making a mixture of a bunch of different types of canned fish seems to be very successful.

And remember, the goal is to bait, not feed! So don't put a lot of food in the trap.

Female cats will go into heat every 𝟮 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 until they become pregnant. Can you imagine how exhausting and draining that must be for those mamas?!

That's why it's so important to get all those mamas in through this program! It helps them live healthier lives for themselves and helps avoid having kittens born into a tough life.

Have you ever seen a stray cat climbing up and down a tree and wondered why they look so funny? Well, it's because their claws curve backwards so they can't physically climb down face-first!

So the next time you see a cat looking funny climbing down a tree, leave them alone they're trying their best 😂
