Thank you thank you for another successful clinic!! Thank you to all the amazing volunteers and vets and the dedicated trappers who make all of this possible.

We were able to help 133 cats this weekend😍 In December's clinic we should hit 4,000 cats helped in the whole time we've been running this clinic!! We don't want to jinx it, but we think we can hit that 😼

Thank you to the volunteers for your time this weekend: Kris H, Chelsey K, Lindsay C, Stacy S, Jimmy S, Tracy V and Susan R.

And as always a special thank you to those who helped out on both days: Teri B, David F, Tracey K, Scott K, Delores S, Mary C, Zoe M, Jenn M, Vincent B, Glenn J, Lori C, Megan D, and Candy S.

Lunch on Sunday was provided by some generous residents of the Four Seasons at the Lakes of Cane Bay: Pam A, Cindy L, Doreen C, Kathleen M, and Linda F.

We'll see y'all in December for our last clinic of 2024!

Is November your FIRST clinic with us?! If it is how exciting! You might be wondering what to expect when you come through. The below image can give you a good idea of how the process works.

And here are some general things that are important to know now and to make things run smoother for everyone come Saturday and Sunday

- All cats MUST be from Berkeley County
- All cats MUST be in a medium sized animal trap
- There is a limit of 5 cats per person per day
- We can only take a limited number of total cats each day. About 75 on Saturday and 55 on Sunday
- We are a 100% volunteer run clinic, so please be patient with and kind to our workers 😊

As you're getting prepared for the clinic this weekend, making sure you have a safe and quiet place for the cats to recover is so important. Getting trapped and going through surgery is super stressful for the kitties and by having a quiet place to recover it can help alleviate some of the stress and make them feel safe.

Make sure the space is where no other animals can get to them and make sure you have an old blanket or towel to cover the trap to give them extra privacy.

November is celebrated as Adopt a Senior Pet Month!

For cats, once they're past about 11 years old they're considered senior but that doesn't mean their s***k is gone! Below is a picture of Tammy (sometimes she goes by Tamara when she's feeling extra sophisticated). She's 14 years old and at Berkeley Animal Center - unless someone is lucky enough to have taken her home!

Kitties like her usually find their way to the shelter when something has happened to their owners, so finding them a new family is so important to keep their spirits up.

If you're adopting a pet this month, we challenge you to ask to see the oldest pets in the shelter! Help fill the last few years of a senior pet's life full of love 🥰

Halloween is a fun time of year but it can be scary for strays. Kids running around, yelling, in costumes can be overwhelming for them. Unfortunately sometimes people get carried away with tricks leaving our beloved strays the victims. Let's all do our part this Halloween and if you see someone messing with a stray animal, say something! They don't have voices, so they need our help sometimes.

Did you know that October 27th is National Black Cat Day? This holiday was created to help break the myths people have about black cats and encourage people to adopt black cats from the shelter.

Despite what some people may say, anyone who has a black cat knows their some of the best little bubbies around 😻🐈‍⬛

Do you have these things ready for your soon-to-be trapped cat this weekend? In our opinion, being over prepared is the way to go!

🐈‍⬛Making sure you have a medium sized animal trap ensure safety for the cats and the vet staff. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺.

🤫 Having a quiet place for your cat to recover is crucial. They need to be away from the elements and other animals. A garage or shed works well!

💆‍♀️ An old towel or blanket laid over the trap is an easy way to reduce stress for the cat inside

🍤 We recommend giving the cats wet food when they're in recovery because that contains the water they need to keep them healthy

As always appointments went fast today! But also like always we will take walk ins on BOTH DAYS until we hit capacity, so don't lose hope if you didn't get an appointment.

For those who did get an appointment, please be reminded that you must be at the shelter by 7:00am or you will lose your appointment. We will be sending out an additional reminder to those with appointments later this week.
