Much of the work that keeps Firefly Farm in motion has come from Tory and Levi this summer! Join us in giving them a high five ✋
Having gained a great deal of experience while still East High Aces at Bluestem Farm, both Tory and Levi graduated in May and are headed for college at Wichita State University this fall. Tory will major in aeronautical engineering and Levi in philosophy.
Both young men spent their summer caring for crops, harvesting fresh food to order and managing pest populations with organic practices. We’re grateful for the partnership with Wichita High School East biology teacher Kyle Broadfoot who sparks so much interest in farming among so many students.
Food production is an art and a science. Everyday, a new learning environment unfolds in front of us. Thanks to all the many hands who have learned to plant, pull weeds, harvest and organize orders over the years!
We wish Tory and Levi all the best as they wrap up the season and head into their next great educational adventure!

Calling for farm volunteers! Join us Wednesday July 10th between 8 and noon. Pull weeds and help with other farm chores in advance of Tomato Fest!
More fun than you might think, Firefly Farm volunteers are a cool community. Bring gloves, a hat and water. We suggest you wear pants and a long sleeve shirt with sunscreen and bug spray.
Meet at the pick-up house just inside Firefly’s east gate. Stay as long as you like, get your hands in the soil and maybe even make new friends along the way.

Look at Lottē’s Chef Rathbun! This picture is from years ago at one of our very first dinners in the barn. And today, Chef Rathbun is still preparing our farm grown food in exceptional ways!
What a delightful journey we’ve been on with Chef Rathbun and other Wichita area restauranteurs who celebrate flavor with a commitment to local farms. Now that he’s a neighbor to RISE Farms in Downtown Wichita, much of the food he’s featuring has traveled less than 500 feet from seed to plate.
