Ok don’t let this girl fool you like she tries us. Sometimes she stumbles a second to get up on the back leg like in this video but most of the time she doesn’t. She’s just spoiled and wants to be carried everywhere 😂
Jenna got her stitches out today and vet said everything is looking good. No stitches means water therapy starts. Today I got the pool up and we both got in the pool. No life jacket today since I sat in there with her. She did repositions between walking the circle and then I hold her while she swims in place. Of course we added some relaxing too. Ok she did some relaxing while I gave her some massages. Her butt floats so it can be kind of funny at times. Got a short video right before I took her out of the pool on her last lap around.
Jenna update: it has been 1 week and Jenna is doing good. I just realized that I didn’t finish updating what the Vet said about Jenna’s leg when we picked her up. He wasn’t able to fix her leg where it would bend, but he was able to fix it where she could still use it. Her leg is in the position of strait out at the knee. Her muscle has a lot of scar tissue. She had already gotten accustomed to it not bending and she did just fine like that. Her hip works just fine. So basically she uses her leg like a crutch so she can get around. She has learned to lean forward to lift that leg up then slide it under her to sit with no problem. Her discharge instructions said she could walk on that leg within a day or 2 but I was being extra cautious since her healing seems to be slow. So we used the body sling to help her out. Today we let her out in the yard to go to the bathroom without our support. She did really good for her first time so I don’t see any issues with her adjusting to it. You can tell or I can tell it’s a tad different to her, but she will get it down with a little practice. She is allowed to walk on it for 5-10 minutes 3-4 times a day. Once her sutures are removed then it will be 15-20 minutes 3-4 times a day. She will stay at 15-20 minutes for 6 weeks then we go back for follow up appt. to see what Dr. Says.
Jenna video. Here’s a video of her walking. If you watch that back leg she is not bending it. So will be making a vet appt for her so we can get a her leg checked out and see what we should do to help her.
Jennas walking on her own
Day 100 of Jenna’s Recovery: Great news, Jenna is walking without a sling. She is so excited! Vet said no jumping on and off furniture and no stairs. She can moderate herself on when she wants to walk and when not to. She just needs time to regain her muscle strength now. I am so happy!
Day 97 of Jenna’s Recovery: Sorry for not doing everyday posts, but it’s always the same update. Today we have news. Jenna will be going to the vet on Friday to see if she can walk on her leg. Please say a prayer for her and my family. I won’t say it’s been a piece of cake with Jenna, but we do not blame her at all. It’s not her fault and I know it’s been just as rough on her. I live with her and can only imagine how she feels being cooped up in a crate for over 3 months. She is still such a sweetheart with a loving personality despite it all. She just said doesn’t want to have to see a crate for the rest of her life. Even if vet says she can start walking on it she will still need her crate as she builds up strength in her leg. So she will have to slowly work her way back to walking. Also, sorry about her hair it had gotten really long, but no worries. She will be getting one sometime this weekend.
Day 84 of Jenna’s Recovery: Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve updated. I’ve been helping a lot at the Camo facility and just haven’t really had time to take pictures when I get home. She is still the same. Impatiently waiting to be able to run around. Here’s a video of her during play time.
Day 67 of Jenna’s Recovery: she got to enjoy her stroll today to Starbucks to get her puppachino. Everytime I took the cup away she would take it back. It’s what she does to her food bowl too when it’s empty. Then we walked Nextdoor to Pet supermarket and got more eye wipes because I ran out. So of course we picked up treats also. Never enough of those. www.camorescue.com
Day 55 of Jenna’s Recovery: She got to go to the Camo Rescue Facility on Sunday. She was so happy to be able to go somewhere different. She did have to stay in a crate but also was held a lot. I was so busy that this is the only thing I have with her in it. She was exhausted when we got home and slept really well. www.camorescue.com
