Ok don’t let this girl fool you like she tries us. Sometimes she stumbles a second to get up on the back leg like in this video but most of the time she doesn’t. She’s just spoiled and wants to be carried everywhere 😂
Jenna got her stitches out today and vet said everything is looking good. No stitches means water therapy starts. Today I got the pool up and we both got in the pool. No life jacket today since I sat in there with her. She did repositions between walking the circle and then I hold her while she swims in place. Of course we added some relaxing too. Ok she did some relaxing while I gave her some massages. Her butt floats so it can be kind of funny at times. Got a short video right before I took her out of the pool on her last lap around.
Jenna update: it has been 1 week and Jenna is doing good. I just realized that I didn’t finish updating what the Vet said about Jenna’s leg when we picked her up. He wasn’t able to fix her leg where it would bend, but he was able to fix it where she could still use it. Her leg is in the position of strait out at the knee. Her muscle has a lot of scar tissue. She had already gotten accustomed to it not bending and she did just fine like that. Her hip works just fine. So basically she uses her leg like a crutch so she can get around. She has learned to lean forward to lift that leg up then slide it under her to sit with no problem. Her discharge instructions said she could walk on that leg within a day or 2 but I was being extra cautious since her healing seems to be slow. So we used the body sling to help her out. Today we let her out in the yard to go to the bathroom without our support. She did really good for her first time so I don’t see any issues with her adjusting to it. You can tell or I can tell it’s a tad different to her, but she will get it down with a little practice. She is allowed to walk on it for 5-10 minutes 3-4 times a day. Once her sutures are removed then it will be 15-20 minutes 3-4 times a day. She will stay at 15-20 minutes for 6 weeks then we go back for follow up appt. to see what Dr. Says.
Jenna video. Here’s a video of her walking. If you watch that back leg she is not bending it. So will be making a vet appt for her so we can get a her leg checked out and see what we should do to help her.
Jennas walking on her own
Day 100 of Jenna’s Recovery: Great news, Jenna is walking without a sling. She is so excited! Vet said no jumping on and off furniture and no stairs. She can moderate herself on when she wants to walk and when not to. She just needs time to regain her muscle strength now. I am so happy!
Day 97 of Jenna’s Recovery: Sorry for not doing everyday posts, but it’s always the same update. Today we have news. Jenna will be going to the vet on Friday to see if she can walk on her leg. Please say a prayer for her and my family. I won’t say it’s been a piece of cake with Jenna, but we do not blame her at all. It’s not her fault and I know it’s been just as rough on her. I live with her and can only imagine how she feels being cooped up in a crate for over 3 months. She is still such a sweetheart with a loving personality despite it all. She just said doesn’t want to have to see a crate for the rest of her life. Even if vet says she can start walking on it she will still need her crate as she builds up strength in her leg. So she will have to slowly work her way back to walking. Also, sorry about her hair it had gotten really long, but no worries. She will be getting one sometime this weekend.
Day 84 of Jenna’s Recovery: Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve updated. I’ve been helping a lot at the Camo facility and just haven’t really had time to take pictures when I get home. She is still the same. Impatiently waiting to be able to run around. Here’s a video of her during play time.
Day 67 of Jenna’s Recovery: she got to enjoy her stroll today to Starbucks to get her puppachino. Everytime I took the cup away she would take it back. It’s what she does to her food bowl too when it’s empty. Then we walked Nextdoor to Pet supermarket and got more eye wipes because I ran out. So of course we picked up treats also. Never enough of those. www.camorescue.com
Day 55 of Jenna’s Recovery: She got to go to the Camo Rescue Facility on Sunday. She was so happy to be able to go somewhere different. She did have to stay in a crate but also was held a lot. I was so busy that this is the only thing I have with her in it. She was exhausted when we got home and slept really well. www.camorescue.com
Day 42 of Jenna’s Recovery: she’s in good spirits because she has us spoiling her. We bring her water & food and hold it in front of her, we bring her toys to play with, she gets lots of belly rubs and kisses. She’s not spoiled at all. 😂 Friday morning she has an appointment with the surgeon to see what the options are for her leg since her patella is still popping out. www.camorescue.com
Day 39 still. Short video of Jenna walking. I think she is looking good. She will start her water therapy next week again to get her leg stronger and I think that will make a huge difference.. Hopefully will have a longer video tomorrow. www.camorescue.com
Day 39 of Jenna’s Recovery:she is such a sweetheart. Tomorrow she gets her stitches out. I went ahead and let her walk a little without the sling. 1 day early to see how she did. She is looking good. She will have a follow up appointment with surgeon in 2 weeks to see what they think. www.camorescue.com
Day 33 of Jenna’s Recovery. Sorry was super busy yesterday and didn’t get any pics or videos of Jenna. She seems to be doing great today. I was starting to get worried about her. She hadn’t used her back leg at all. Surgery was Wednesday. So I thought she should be attempting but was giving her a little time to let the swelling go down and pain level to go down. She wasn’t wanting to use her leg at all. She was only walking to go to the bathroom and just used her front 2 legs to walk. She wouldn’t attemp to put her leg down at all. Until last night. Thank God. Swelling is just about gone and her pain level has gone down as well. Shes is starting to more her leg and is putting a little pressure on it. She’s only allowed 50% weight on that leg. I’m just so happy to see her finally putting a little pressure on it now. So this is great news. Here’s a video for all to see how happy she is today. She really wanted to play with the other dogs but we attempted playing with toys instead. www.camorescue.com
Day 31 still: belly rubs and kisses are the best. I do have to tell y’all how spoiled this baby is. The other day I had her wrapped in a blanket and I was holding her. I didn’t realize I was doing it until she burped. I was patting her back waiting for that burp not intentionally. Just out of habit. My 1 year old granddaughter & daughter live with me since she was born. So I guess instinct or something said she needed to burp 😂 ok well I’m going with that conclusion. Because the other scenario would be that I’m going nuts 😂
Day 21: Jenna’s doing good. Just waiting for time to go by for her appt next week. Seems to be a slow process on her gaining strength in her leg. She still isn’t extending her leg like I would hope. Remember this is my first rodeo with a leg surgery or amputation so it may be normal. We will see next week what vet says. She did her water therapy and she was able to go a little longer today then she has in the past. She’s having play time with my foster fail, Babee. As long as they stay laying Jenna can play all she wants. She’s not complaining she just wants to play with everyone. www.camorescue.com
Day 20 of Jenna’s Journey: she wants to play with the dog’s so bad. But not yet. She’s still needs time to heal. But she love’s to play with my feet. 😂 She started her vitamins this morning and did great. Makes it easier on me when dogs just gobble it up. Ohh and I don’t have stinky feet.
Day 19: Jenna is enjoying her turkey. She’s probably wishing that it was real. 😂
