BNC Golden Retrievers Working Golden Retrievers. We have a passion for Retrievers who were bred for work, specifically hunting. They are loving, loyal, and excitable.

Our dogs are first and foremost members of our family, and a close second, our dedicated hunting partners. The name BNC Golden Retrievers originated from Dave's original Golden Retriever "Boone". Growing up, they weren't allowed to have pets. Shockingly, it seemed Dad was 'allergic' to all animals, including goldfish. However, Dave and his brother Dan found themselves living together in Helena, MT

during their early 20's, still with an unscratched itch to get a dog. They had grown up next door to a great Golden, so naturally, the Golden Retriever was at the top of the list. They soon had a new puppy they mutually named, "Boone N Crockett". Hence, BNC Golden Retrievers to commemorate the best Boone Brown Poone Hound to ever live. The name has a story as well. When Dan and Dave were born, Mom preferred biblical names while Dad preferred hunting names. So, to compromise, they agreed on Daniel (for Daniel Boone), and David (for Davey Crockett). It was only fitting they named their joint pup, "Boone N Crockett".

We didn’t agree about this hunt. Midge is due in two weeks and I thought she should have stayed home with me. Dave said, “If she sleeps in I’ll leave her, if she gets up I’m taking her.” Well, 3:30am rolled around and I could hear her wiggle out from under our bed. It’s getting tougher and tougher for her to get in and out, but that’s where she prefers to sleep. Two seconds later I can hear her soft whines of excitement. Yup, she’s definitely hunting today. This video shows just how much she loves her job. Slight, happy tail wag, shivers of anticipation, and a keen sense of awareness. She’s ready for anything, waiting on the bank with Dad. Alright. I can accept this. I mean, how can I make her trade the love of a hunt with a lazy day at home. #itsanobsession #sickforit
