Congratulations to one of our fabulous trainers at the barn! She is graduating and headed to So. Cal to take on a wonderful job!

With that said, we have a few stalls opening out Craigmont. We will also consider another English trainer to join our team!

To steer your horse and direct his energy toward your line of travel without losing alignment …

Imagine channeling him between your shoulders, elbows, knees and feet.—Annie Morris

To maintain your balance ...

Imagine that your upper body is like a broomstick and your horse is a hand trying to balance it. If your body (the broomstick) starts to tip, your hand (horse) will automatically move underneath to keep it up. You cannot lean right and expect your horse to go left.—Laura Tomlinson

Tomlinson (née Bechtolsheimer) represented Great Britain with great success aboard Mistral Højris. The pair earned several medals, including team gold and individual silver at the 2012 Olympic Games as well as silver in the team, special and freestyle at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

If you depend too much on the reins and try to pull your horse into a frame …

Imagine the bit being in front of your horse’s mouth. Instead of pulling back, you want to push him forward into the bit for a softer, springier horse.—Phillip Dutton

Seven-time Olympic eventer Phillip Dutton won Olympic team gold medals at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics and individual bronze at the 2016 Games. He has competed in seven World Championships and won two U.S. team Pan American gold medals in 2007 and 2015. He is based out of True Prospect Farm in West Grove, Pennsylvania, and Buck Ridge Farm in Loxahatchee, Florida.

To correctly channel and manage your horse’s energy flow from his active hind leg to the front without resistance …

Imagine you’re going to ride him through a narrow tunnel and need to form both sides of his body to fit through safely. Think of sending his energy through the corridor with your legs, weight, sitting bones and hands on either side. This will allow you to put his body in whatever shape you want—long and low, shorter and rounder, flexed and bent, etc.—Karen Adams

Karen Adams is a USEF “R” dressage judge, instructor and coach. She was the head instructor at Linda Zang’s Idlewilde Farm and competed through the Prix St. Georges level. Her horse Aleutian was the 1980 USEF Zone III Fourth Level Horse of the Year.

We love our barn, our home away from home! Looking forward to the completing some great upgrades and repairs this coming weekend!

Many of you know that we have been reaching out with Horses, Hope & Healing at CEC for almost 20 years!

Some have been asking how they can help other than this weekend. We have a few other desires that could really help the barn help others~

A live in trailer/RV
DG, rock, clean dirt & sand
Fencing materials

Thank you everyone involved! 🤗
