Due to a Winter Storm Warning in effect for the Denver Metro area, we will be closed tomorrow, Friday 11/08/24, (and possibly Saturday too) to ensure the safety of our groomers and your precious fur babies. The forecast predicts this could be a historic storm for November, with "impossible travel" expected. Local schools in Southeast Denver are closing, and residents are urged to prepare for potential travel disruptions.

Please stay safe, stock up on essentials, and avoid travel if possible. If you must be on the road, bring a flashlight, blanket, food, and water as people may be stranded for extended periods. ❄️

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this closure and appreciate your understanding. Rest assured, we’ll be in touch to reschedule appointments as soon as it’s safe to resume our services.

URGENT PSA: Protect Your Dogs in the Heat
Dear Dog Parents,

As temperatures rise, it's crucial to keep your babies safe from the dangers of heat and hot pavements. Sidewalks and walkways can get much hotter than they appear, posing serious risks to your dog's paws and overall health.

Pavement Temperatures:
70°F: Pavement can reach 125°F
85°F: Pavement can reach 140°F
95°F: Pavement can reach 155°F
105°F: Pavement can reach 165°F
Remember, if the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog's paws.

Signs and Symptoms of Heat Stroke in Dogs:
* Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
* Increased heart rate
* Drooling
* Mild weakness or confusion
* Vomiting or diarrhea
* Bright red or blue gums and tongue
* Collapse or seizures

Prevention Steps:
* Walk During Cool Hours: Walk your dog early in the morning or late in the evening when temperatures are lower.
* Avoid Hot Pavements: Stick to grassy areas or shaded paths to protect your dog’s paws.
* Hydrate: Always have fresh water available for your dog to drink.
* Cool Down: Provide a cool, shady place for your dog to rest. * Consider using cooling mats or vests.
* Never Leave in a Car: Never leave your dog in a parked car, even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a car can skyrocket quickly.

If you suspect your dog is suffering from heat stroke:
* Move to a Cooler Area: Get your dog into a cool, shaded place immediately.
* Cool Down Gradually: Use cool (not cold) water to wet your dog, especially on the belly, paws, and head. Avoid ice-cold water as it can cause shock.
* Hydrate: Offer small amounts of water to drink.
* Seek Veterinary Care: Contact your vet immediately. Heat stroke is a medical emergency and requires prompt attention.
