National Dog Day is observed to celebrate the love, loyalty and companionship that dogs bring to our lives. Whether they're pets, service animals, police dogs or rescue dogs, these amazing creatures play important roles in humans' lives.
What do you do when it is 115+ for days and days with a dog who is high energy???
We go for a walk in the morning with a little run. In the evening we train inside working on our trick list. It is growing. Summer 2024 I decided to challenge us with a new trick per week.

2023 AZ Cactus Classic NADAC Agility Trial
Viva and I had such a great time over the last four days at the Arizona Cactus Classic, sanctioned by NADAC and sponsored by the Jumping Chollas Agility Club. Thank you Craig Coonrad for all the great courses and everyone at the JCAC being so supportive. Special thanks to Ron Boe for the amazing pictures!
Officially, these runs were Viva's first at the Elite level in the Regular class (we did some Virtual runs last weekend). We had a couple off courses but mostly Viva did amazing. She is such a fun dog who loves whatever we do.
Bonus: We earned 1st place in the Pre-Elite level at the 16" Inch jump height to add to the pile.

It’s just fun. #Viva LOVES agility. She barks at me when I drop the ball in handled - and she’s usually right. Although, she missed on getting the entry into the weaves in the first try. She was too excited as this was her first run of the night. Otherwise, one other small wrong direction it overall, #greatjob !

In this short video, there are 4 clicks. All at important times according to our purpose. Main goal is to get her to jump and returned to heel position. Second goal, keep in heel position and pay attention to me waiting for next cue.

Pumpkin already had 4 clicks in about a minute and the reinforcement was a lick in the catnip bowl. By the time this video happened, pumpkin had a lot of catnip and was feeling feisty! 😼😸😹
As soon as Pumpkin touches the ball (or moves toward it), the click happens and she gets the reinforcement.

#vivalavida✌ again with the #dogagility . This was her 2nd #akcagility showing. Viva got ‘off course ‘ a couple times with her taking an extra jump and her twirl around say ‘where to next?’ Poor thing is held back by her novice handler. 🤷🏻♀️. She doesn’t care. We got 2/3 Q’s - qualifying rounds toward her Novice Agility title and a first place in one class 🥇. That class is one where she doesn’t actually have to follow the numbers but we can make up our own course. Perfect for two newbies 😂
