Welcome to Dobie Defenders Jewel!
This sweet girl was found at a state park by a very kind woman who then took her to a local emergency vet, who then transferred her to MACC in Nashville. We all agree she was intentionally dumped.
As you can see from pictures, she’s in rough shape. Shes extremely emaciated(and these photos are after a week of regular meals) was completely covered in ticks, has scratches, cuts, bumps, skin irritation and is just generally pretty pitiful condition.
Despite her condition and clear neglect, she is the sweetest, most Velcro baby. She wants nothing more than to be snuggled up with a human. She has tested well with other dogs both large and small, kids, and hasn’t shown interest in cats. She also appears to be potty trained andd hasn’t had any accidents in the house.
She has been picking up on training quickly and is very treat motivated. She does have separation anxiety, but who can blame her given her past. She actually got her name, Jewel, because her cry sounds like nothing less than a yodel 😜
She needed out of the shelter fast so she’s currently with a short term foster and is looking for more long term placement. She will need frequent check ups and to be spayed so we need a foster willing to take her to our preferred vet partners in Nashville or Knoxville. The foster must also understand that she has had a tough start to life and needs a gentle, patient hand to help her reach her full potential. We have no doubts she will be an amazing, affectionate companion for the right person or family.
We give Foster’s first rights to adopt if they choose to! If you’re interested in fostering jewel please reach out!
