Willow is still in need of a rescue commitment!
Her biopsies came back as non-cancerous, just very angry mouth issues (lymphocytic-plasmatic gingivitis/stomatitis). She will likely require full mouth extractions and is already on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. She is eating wet food well.
Willow was brought to the shelter from animal control after a citizen reported to have found a sick cat. She is about 8 years old, previously ear-tipped, and weighs about 8 pounds. She was very flighty at intake and did not allow handling but overall had an unthrifty appearance to her. Willow was observed in her kennel with her tongue hanging out and hypersalivating but she had eaten all of the wet food that she had been given. A further assessment of her mouth was done while she was awake and she was found to have severe ulcerations in her mouth and a possible mass. She was then sedated for additional diagnostics. She has stage 4 dental disease, focally extensive masses on gingiva on lingual aspect of mandibular teeth bilaterally and at glossopalatine fossa. Bloodwork was completed and sent to IDEXX for complete analysis and available upon request, and an FIV/FELV test was run revealing she is FIV positive. A punch biopsy was collected of the oral masses and results of that are still pending.
Willow does allow some handling, but does try to flee. She appears more comfortable and is still eating wet food. If you are interested in helping Willow, please let us know ASAP!
