🚨Confirmed Rabies alert from the Town Of Eastham‼️

The Town of Eastham is aware of a confirmed case of rabies in a raccoon within our community. We understand this may cause concern, and we want to assure residents that we are actively monitoring the situation.

Our team is collaborating closely with the USDA and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to address this incident and ensure appropriate steps are taken to protect the health and safety of our community. We will provide additional information and guidance as it becomes available.

In the meantime, we encourage residents to take standard precautions:

Avoid contact with wild animals.
Ensure pets are up to date on rabies vaccinations.
Report any unusual animal behavior to Eastham Animal Control.

At Best Life Mobile Vet we strive to give your pets the most positive and low-stress experience possible. By coming to your driveway and providing private one-on-one care in our truck we reduce the stressors for your pet during their visit. However, sometimes we may still need to use different techniques or tools (such as treats, fear free restraint, muzzles, and even drug protocols) to make your visit with us go as safely and smoothly as possible for everyone involved.

Depending on your pet, Dr. McStay may suggest a "chill protocol" or oral sedation for the appointment.

🐾A "Chill Protocol" involves a combination of oral medications that effectively reduce anxiety and fear.
🐾The medications are used together to increase their effectiveness and reduce side-effects. These protocols have been successfully used to improve veterinary visits and are to be given as directed prior to each appointment.
🐾If we find a pet is still struggling with fear during the appointment, we may need to pause and give your pet a break or reschedule and return another time. While we know you’d prefer to get all the vaccines or other treatments done in one visit, please know this is for their well-being.

🐾When scheduling please inform us if your pet has expressed fear or anxiety at previous vet visits, or has a history of needing oral sedation. Knowing this information ahead of time helps us make an appropriate plan to help them be as comfortable as possible.

🐾If Dr. McStay has prescribed oral sedation to your pet please give as directed prior to visits. Failure to give these medications as prescribed before a visit may result in needing to reschedule.

Our goal is to create a safe, positive experience for your pet each time they see Dr. McStay.

One of our amazing clients is having to make an extremely tough decision in rehoming one of her male Siamese.
Please be kind as this decision has not come easy to her. She is willing to bring him to you with whatever you need!

“He was born 7/6 /2015 .Very healthy....loves to be pet... Sleeps with people.. But not cats. Ideal home for his devotion has to be a home where he can be the only cat. He is looking for a co-dependent ADULT to devote his existence.
Dragon is up to date on all shots, neutered,chipped and even major teeth work last Spring.”

‼️The long awaited update…

We are finally going to be carrying the Canine Influenza Vaccine 💉‼️

Due to the high demand of needing this vaccination in most of all Cape Cod boarding facilities, daycare, and grooming we were able to order and should be getting them in by next week!

Please call or email us at 508-632-3006 to get an appointment with us.
If you would be becoming a new client or have not been seen by Dr Mcstay in at least 6 months, you will need a full exam by Dr McStay.
Otherwise if you are a current patient and have been seen by us recently and just need the vaccination it will be a technician visit fee.
We are happy to be able to continue to keep your pups safe and healthy while away from home !

SIGN UP NOW for next month’s Pet CPR & First Aid Workshop on Saturday, May 18th at 1 pm! Learn critical, life-saving tips and techniques to prepare yourself in the case of an emergency for your pet. This workshop will benefit the Sampson Fund*

We’ll be covering-
• The ABC’s of Pet Emergency Care
• Emergency muzzling and restraint techniques
• Vital signs assessment
• CPR (canine and feline)
• Choking management (conscious and unconscious)
• Bleeding control techniques
• Shock management
As well as- Seizures, household poisoning, hot cars, first aid, and more.
