Here at BarkHäus your pet's well being is our utmost priority!
Our team has been working diligently to stay informed & up to date daily concerning the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID - 19).
We have received several questions about your pet's safety. Here is what the most recent recommendations are saying:
"According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization, at this time, there are no reports of pets or animals becoming sick with coronavirus or spreading the virus."
This is great news, as of now, no evidence supports your pet being able to contract or spread the Coronavirus! Experts are urging us to maintain a higher level of cleanliness to prevent further sickness. Hand washing, disinfecting soft surfaces, & avoiding hand to face contact are all good practices to keep you and your family healthy!
Another recommendation is to avoid spreading germs to your pets as you would avoid other people while you are sick. Because we are still learning exactly how the Coronavirus will behave long term, it is important to avoid spreading the virus to animals & people.
"The CDC warns, 'You should restrict contact with pets and other animals while you are sick with COVID-19, just like you would around other people. Although there have not been reports of pets or other animals becoming sick with COVID-19, it is still recommended that people sick with COVID-19 limit contact with animals until more information is known about the virus... If you are sick with COVID-19, avoid contact with your pet, including petting, snuggling, being kissed or licked, and sharing food. If you must care for your pet or be around animals while you are sick, wash your hands before and after you interact with pets and wear a facemask.' "
Another practice to avoid the spread of viruses' from person to person in your home is to bathe your pets often. Keeping your pets clean can help reduce the number of germs present on their fur from our hands touching them. Harsh chemicals should never be used to bathe your pets! A chemical-free shampoo with warm water is all you need to clean your pets properly.
As new information about coronavirus & pets becomes available we will keep our BarkHäus community up to date.
