The Continental clip on Poodles is actually used as protection for Poodles when hunting. Poodles were bred to retrieve duck, and the purpose of the hair is to protect the heart, lungs, and joints when diving into cold waters.

Here in New Orleans though we call it the bead dog clip. What is the purpose of the bead dog you ask? Mardi Gras. Need I say more? 💚💛💜🐩

Since I can remember I’ve always sat in front of the tv as a little girl to watch the Westminster dog show with starry eyes. I was always so intrigued by all the different dog breeds with such unique looks! My biggest check off of life’s bucket list was the opportunity to show my Wire Fox Terrrier Spiffy at the Westminster dog show. He was such a ham for the paparazzi, just as he still is on a daily basis at Top Dog. I took my passion of presenting beautifully groomed dogs and incorporated it into the grooming salon, where we use our knowledge of canine anatomy and coat maintenance to offer the best pet grooming in town. (Not to be outshined by the LOVE that all of our furry clients bring us every time they eagerly run through our doors to greet us!)

How do we choose the finishing touches between Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras?!

Tag us in your SNEAUX pics!!! We expect the next few weeks to be busy as we catch up on missed snow days. Seems like all of our pups loved experiencing this once in a lifetime event for Nola.

A moment of honesty here: We groom and are knowledgeable on many breeds and many hairstyles…but we have NO CLUE how to navigate through a dog’s coat after a snow storm. Better late than never to learn! 🤣
