Hi everyone, firstly I’d like to say I’m sorry for going a bit MIA - my chronic migraines have been tough and I’m taking a break this year.

That said, I do have an amazing update on sweet Posey!! Some of you may remember that 4 months ago, this sweet boy was viciously attacked by another animal and left with horrible facial/jaw wounds and a raging infection. Our amazing veterinary partners at The Vetting Zoo performed life-saving surgery and administered IV antibiotics during his hospitalization. Posey has now officially cleared his mandatory 120-day rabies hold and is available for adoption!! 🎉🎉🎉

He has made a full recovery - the only sign that anything happened to him is his adorable little snaggletooth from the way his jaw healed.

Posey would do better in a home with no or older children. He is great with dogs and loves other cats; he cannot be in an only-cat home. His adjustment period will be a bit longer so the adopting family needs to give him time and patience to come out of his shell and understand he went through a severely traumatizing event. He loves people but absolutely *needs* that base understanding of trusting them first, and then he’ll seek you out for attention and cuddles 🥰 he adores snuggling and lying in bed with people.

If you’re interested in adopting Posey please fill out an application in our pinned FAQ post 🖤

Hi everyone!! ☀️☀️

Posey is eating on his own now ♥️ such amazing progress - last week we didn't think he would survive and were operating on a "if he makes it through" mindset. What a little fighter!

Quick progress pics snapped! Wow!!! (His ecollar was just being cleaned between feedings - otherwise it’s always on).

I just can’t resist one more post ♥️♥️

Posey needs syringe fed but the hard plastic syringe made me nervous with his very sore mouth. I chopped up a feeding tube down to 1.5” so he had a softer way to eat via syringe and it was a success!! Go Posey go!

Posey is home! He is on two antibiotics, a pain medication, and eye medication. He’s being syringe fed for now and goes back in three weeks for his next rabies shot in the prophylactic series and a recheck. The recheck may under sedation with xrays. He is purring up a storm and continues to make his biscuits 🥰

Posey’s official surgery update! It’s long, I’m sorry! But I want to provide a lot of information because there’s a lot happening.

Posey has two eyes!!! Dr. Diane found his other eye under all of that mess! His conjunctiva did grow back together; it was surgically cut apart and repaired. His 3rd eyelid is a bit weird and we’re not sure if the cartilage will go back to normal. Now that a thorough exam was possible we were able to confirm he was not hit by a car, he was attacked. He has a large hematoma on top of his head. His upper right jaw/gums had a huge slice/cut...all jaw bone there was exposed and was surgically fixed. His upper left molar was movable, with bone, and they removed that baby tooth and sewed the area shut. They’re trying to immobilize that jaw bone. Overall we’re unsure of how/if the adult teeth will come in. There was a hole in the lower right gum below his canine. Some puncture-like wounds....we think something may have had his little head in its mouth. Posey is currently waking up. This poor baby has been through so much. His recovery will be at least one month with his jaw.

Because he was attacked, he will be under rabies quarantine protocol and is beginning the prophylactic series starting tomorrow as long as all goes well. He will get one vaccine tomorrow, one in three weeks, and one five weeks later. Vaccines occur regardless of age if there is a possibility of exposure. We will also place him on a 120 day quarantine. This all sounds really scary but it’s for everyone’s safety. I’m rabies vaccinated so I do have that protection.

Oh, and of course he was still very hard at work making biscuits during pre-op! The biscuits aren’t gonna make themselves!! 🤣♥️♥️

I cannot thank Dr. Diane and The Vetting Zoo staff enough for their continuous above and beyond care and love they give to these babies.

If you would like to donate towards Posey’s medical care, he would really appreciate it! A reminder that our parent org is Cornwall Kitten Fosters so all donations are processed with them.

Posey’s procedure is today to aspirate his forehead contusion, enucleate/remove whatever is left of his eye, examine and clean his mouth, and get the rest of him all cleaned up. You’re going to do great, little kitty ♥️

Visiting with Posey today in the hospital ♥️ "Rescued animals aren't broken, they've simply experienced more life than other animals. If they were human we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write, the ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Don't pity them. Be proud to have their greatness by your side.”

Shame on me for never introducing sweet Beatrix! She was dumped a couple of months ago and she had a very bad URI that reoccurred a few times. Poor girl got hit hard, but she is finally about 98% recovered! Her eyes are slightly puffy still and she continues to get medication to address that, but she will be ready for her spay next week! Bea is incredibly playful and cuddly with motorboat purrs ♥️

Posey, our kitten hit by a car, is looking REALLY good this morning! His tongue is nice and pink instead of blue, he’s been syringe fed and is swallowing well, his right eye has opened, and he’s sitting up instead of laying flat on his side. The earliest he will be discharged is Thursday or Friday evening as long as he continues improving like he is! What a trooper!!

If you would like to donate towards Posey’s care, we would really appreciate it! A reminder that our parent org is Cornwall Kitten Fosters so all donations are processed with them. They hold the official 501c3 🙂

Update! Donation links are at the bottom of this post if you would like help us help Posey. First things first Posey is a boy! So we are changing his name just slightly after Buster Posey ⚾️. Posey will be hospitalized for *at least* a few days. The good news is we think Posey has a chance IF he makes it through the next 48 hours. He will be on IV fluids, IV antibiotics, and IV pain medication. His official diagnosis is trauma, likely hit by a car…just barely, but enough to do damage.

Once he’s loaded up on meds, especially pain meds, Dr D with The Vetting Zoo is going to be taking a more in-depth look at his mouth (under full sedation if necessary). We’re trying to get a better understanding of if his left eye socket is draining into his mouth and oral cavities and what’s going on with his mouth in general. His upper canines appear dislocated, but no other broken bones. He has a large, soft lump on his head that we would like to aspirate. His tongue is a bit cyanotic due to not breathing the best with everything happening at his nose and mouth, but luckily his chest and airways are CLEAR! Phew.

If we can get the infection under control (in a very very urgent and critical way) this sweet little biscuit-making boy has a chance, and sometimes all we need is just a chance ♥️

If you would like to donate towards Posey’s care, we would really appreciate it! A reminder that our parent org is Cornwall Kitten Fosters so all donations are processed with them. They hold the official 501c3 🙂

This sweet girl’s name is Posie, and I am desperately hoping these roads will clear; I live on a back road and she needs to an urgent trip to the vet. One eye is salvageable but the other is not and will need removed. Her mouth is truly a mess as well and I can’t tell if it’s due to the pus draining from her nasal cavity into her mouth or an injury. She’s on antibiotics and strong pain meds in the meantime, purring away (likely a pain response) and making biscuits. She’s truly nicer than I would be if I was in this condition. We do have a couple of things working in our favor - overall her body condition/weight is good and she’s big enough for surgery. I’ll keep everyone posted on this sweet, critical care kitten.

Sweet Momma Trouble is a beautiful young adult calico who has said goodbye to her kitten-raising days and is looking for her forever family! She’s a GORGEOUS calico estimated around 2 years old who came to us after her previous “family” moved and left her and her newborn kittens abandoned in their vacant house all alone.

Don’t let her name fool you - Trouble is calm, gentle, social, and an easy-going cat. If you’ve always wanted to adopt from us, but weren’t sure if the wild and playful kittens were a good match, this is a great opportunity to adopt a cat just looking for snuggles and a warm bed to sleep in. Her babies have been adopted and now it’s her turn ♥️

Trouble does well with kids, dogs, and other cats and is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated (distemper and rabies), and dewormed. If you think this sweet momma is a good fit for you, please complete an adoption application found at the top of our page under the Featured Posts (see Adoption FAQs).

A huge CONGRATULATIONS 🎉 to Kylo on his adoption today! This sweet kitten is one of the quirkiest ones I’ve had the pleasure of fostering. His little tongue is always out and he shakes his tail is such excitement when he sees people. He will have two feline brothers around the same age as him in his new home. He’s found the perfect family!
