Salt Kitten Love Playing With Her Mom - Cute Kitten Ever!!

Josh walks us through the intake of this adorable bunch of puppies that were dropped off in a bin at the shelter. While it seems like a nice surprise, puppies in shelters face increased risks due to being too young for many vaccines.

We want families like you! That’s right families make amazing fosters and we’d love for you to join our team! Not only would opening your home help save a life but you would teach your children the value of life. They’ll learn compassion, understanding and the willingness to give. It’s amazing how doing one simple thing can positively alter so many different lives. And here’s the thing fostering doesn’t have to be a long term commitment. Even if you can only help for a short amount of time we can use you! We need the following foster situations:-short term fosters for transport dogs (this gets the dog out of the shelter and safe while they wait for their flight). This also frees up shelter space for incoming dogs. Typical time commitment 1-2 weeks-weekend fosters. Fosters are human and have lives outside of fostering. Weekend fosters give current fosters a safe place to stay while the primary foster is out of town. Typical time commitment 2-4 days-senior fosters. Love the seniors? There are tons in the shelter with minimal opportunities to get out. Fosters give them a chance to exit the shelter, go into rescue and have the time needed to find an adoptive home. Typical time commitment 2-6 months -large dog fosters. Large and medium size dogs are the most at risk in our shelter system. They have the least options for shelter exit and are the most frequently euthanized in shelters. By fostering a medium or large dog you are truly saving a life! Typical time commitment 2-4 months -small dog fosters. Want to help but can’t do the big guys? There are lots of small dogs also needing out of the shelter. Typical time commitment 2-3 months -puppy fosters. Some people just love puppies and our shelters are full of them! Want to help an entire family? We can find you one and puppies are soooo much fun! Typical time commitment 2-4 monthsThere are so many ways to help. If you are in Kern or Lancaster Counties and want to help but aren’t sure if your situation would work head over to our website, click the how to help section and fill out a foster application. We’ll get back to you with an answer 😊 Ways to Donate ⬇️*We. b: DONATE | Marleys Mutts (https://www.marleysmutts.org/donate)*PayPal: * Venmo: (business)*By Check: Marley''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Central California gets HOT!!! Part of keeping our ranch dogs safe and comfortable includes making sure their inside spaces have both heat and air. It’s time for us to add a few new units but that costs $$$. Thankfully Dave our ranch Facility Supervisor can do all the heavy lifting and installing but we still have the cost of the two new units.

We’re looking at $2,000. It’s not the most exciting thing you can donate towards but the units are needed to make sure the pups in our care stay safe during our California heat waves. If you can help donate towards their cost you’ll be keeping dozens of dogs happy and comfortable no matter what the weather throws our way 😊

This we have just one thing to ask…..Please for the love of everything good in this world just keep your dogs. Get them spayed, get them neutered. Stop throwing them out like the garbage you throw out every night. Stop leaving them in orchards and on the streets and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop expecting shelter and rescue staff to clean up your mess cause we’re running out of options for all these unwanted lives 😞

Fostering changed Courage’s life

This week we celebrated our 3rd graduation at our Victorville Federal Prison Women’s program! The canine teams worked extremely hard to rehabilitate some challenging dogs, including Kramer, who was finally adopted after 3 rounds! For 3 months, these women, led by Kassidy have dedicated themselves to rehabilitation and growth, while honing skillls which can help them with employment upon release. We want to communicate great appreciation to the staff at FCC who have completely embraced the first step act and a pivot towards meaningful programming! Thank you all for supporting our

It’s been a rough year in rescue. Adoptions are slow and then there are the returns. Good dogs who should have had their forever homes but sadly lose that home through no fault of their own. Trixie is one of those dogs. Adopted as a tiny puppy this sweet girl lost her family due to their personal medical issues. It’s not her fault but sadly her life changes because of the change in family circumstances. As thankful as we are to give our dogs a safe place to return it doesn’t change how much that return hurts our hearts. Thankfully Trixie is a really good girl and we’re going to give her every opportunity to be seen yet again. She’s headed into our Pawsitive Change prison program at North Kern State prison starting in May. Not only will she gain invaluable training skills but the program will boost her visibly and hopefully find her a new family to love. She deserves this chance and we can’t wait to watch her shine!

When the hopelessness of a picture just speaks to you….this is not mother and baby but rather a father and son. Both providing the other comfort in an overcrowded shelter who can’t guarantee them a future. Their situation isn’t unique and sadly dozens of families every day meet the same tragic outcome. This sweet sad pair were both scheduled to be euthanized. To be clear the shelter has no desire to kill any of the animals that come through their doors. They try so desperately hard to get each dog seen and out. But when the breeders keep on breeding and people keep on dumping eventually there’s no more space to hold even one more dog. This is a societal problem not a shelter problem! For we went in to the shelter with every intention of pulling both father and son but instead we were met with the happiest of surprises, the puppy was just adopted ❤️. With one saved we fulfilled our commitment to the father who so bravely stood by his son. Today both have escaped what fate had in store and will live out their days with the taste of freedom finally their reality. Donations make each of these saves a possibility. With one of our biggest fundraisers of the year right around the corner we hope you’ll support our rescue efforts with your donation. Just head to the linktree in our bio, click “Give Big Kern” and help us continue to save these deserving lives who wouldn’t make it out without the kindness of many who see all the value those lives bring.

I mean come on how do we say no to a face like this?!?! A face that needed a chance even more than for the obvious reasons. This sweet pup was born with both visual and auditory impairments. In rescue we see this the most with Merle on Merle breeding (double Merle’s). Thankfully he does have some vision and with an amazing foster home opening up we can give him the time he needs to find the amazing home we know he will find. Oh can’t forget this boy needs a name so send us all your ideas cause we know his foster would love the help deciding 😊
