With a heavy heart and tears in my eyes, I have to announce my sweet Darla never made it out of surgery. The vet called and said that she was full of cancer and that it wasn't survivable. We made the decision not to wake her up and to let her pass on. I'm in shock that my Darla was just pacing me every day on 4 mile runs and hikes through woods and, in a matter of days, was dying. Im devasted, my life will not be the same without her, just shy of 6 years old, and it wasn't enough.

Darla is in surgery, they still don't know why she's filled with fluid and it won't go down without opening her up.

Yesterday, I took Darla to a different vet for a second opinion.
During this visit, we tried to get xrays of her abdomen, but she has so much fluid that we can't even see her organs.
We tried to tap her belly twice to draw the fluid out but couldn't get anything.
The vet started her on drugs to see if she can get the fluid down and passed so we can get a proper xray.
We collected urine and found very high bilirubin levels possibly indicating liver problem...
The vet took another blood sample to evaluate liver enzymes and function.
She stayed over nite with the doctor and was started on IV Antibiotics.
This vet does not suspect uterine infection.

On Friday, Darla couldn't keep up on our run when she was setting the pace for 3-4mile runs just days before. I noticed her belly was distended. This morning, when I woke up, she wasn't in the house. She had gone outside to the dog house, in the freezing cold, she came in and was shivering (we have a doggy door) this was her decision to be outside. I noticed she still had the distended belly, and was shivering and uncomfortable. I called all the vets in town and was only able to get an appointment with one of them. Her white blood cell count is super high, indicating an infection. The ultrasound only revealed that she has a ton of fluid in her abdomen, and the vet doesn't know where it's coming from. The vet thinks uterine infection and wants to spay her tomorrow morning and or look for the cause of the leaking fluid.
I'm so worried for my buddy and sad we won't be getting any more puppies from her.

I'm 99.9% sure we will be having puppies early November. 😍 they will not be parti.

Breeding bi***es need to be AKC Registered rottweilers, OFA certified, JLPP negative and recent negative brucellosis test.
We do plan to have a litter this winter/spring.
