Meet this beautiful pup named Maple!

She is a retired racing greyhound who we watched this last week. She is a sweet girl who loves exploring and watching cats wander past her back door along with the occasional fox! We can’t wait to see you again in a little while Maple!

It’s been a while so I though another intro is overdue.

Hi! I’m Anastasia, a disabled teenager who is obsessed with animals. I’ve worked with animals all my life, having grown up with cats, parrots, reptiles and fish. As I’ve grown I’ve only extended my animal knowledge. I am disabled and pet sitting is my full time job. I also have 2 service dogs that I trained myself.

I now have worked with large animals, birds, dogs, cats, reptiles, rodents, and almost any other animal out there. I voilenteer at Friends of Maine Greyhound Placement Service almost full time and am going to collage for Veterinary Technician.

I mainly provide pet sitting, but I also do dog training, CGC testing, and woodburned art. It’s nice to meet you all, and I hope you like this selection of my pets.

There is a almost 2 year old male looking for his forever home. He was in a home before but needed a better fit. He is young and strong and is looking for a leader to give him his boundaries as he is only a young pup--so Greyhound experience preferred. Fenced in yard would be a plus for him to be able to run around as needed to get out some of his normal young Greyhound energy. He can be alone or with another Greyhound. No cats though and no kids under 8 years old. He does entertain himself with toys. Loves attention and is a smart, sweet boy. If you are the right match for him, please contact me at 207-557-3166.

Remeber this Christmas weekend watch your pets. As much as they want share in the holiday season, there are many dangers. A quick list is

Unsafe foods (a big one is cooked bones, they can splinter and pierce the digestive system)

The tree, not only are some trees poisonous, but the tinsel, bulbs, and lights can be dangerous as well

Along with all the people you have over you need to keep your pets in mind. Some pets will get super stressed from all the hustle and bustle so maybe consider keeping them is an quiet room. Other pets may be at risk of escaping/getting hurt if people are not paying attention

How does a Service Dog ride on a plane?

Well the simple answer is in your foot space.

Your first step should be filling out the paper the DOT provides. This will give the airline the information they need about you and your dog. If you are flying out of the country there might be additionally paperwork you may need to complete. Once you have that paperwork complete submit it to the airline and print a copy to pack. Also have a copy of a valid rabies shot.

Once you're at the airport it will be pretty normal. Once you hit security there will be 2 options you have. 1. Strip your dog of all gear and have them wait as you go through the metal detector. Then you will call them through. 2. Leave their gear on and do the same process. More then likely the metal detector will go off and they will pat your pup down

Once you're through security you can't find the Service Dog potty stations so you dog can potty. Then you're off to the plane. When you board your dog will go where you carry on would, aka under the seat in front of you. Depending on what class you're in you may have more or less space. For longer flights your pup needs to be able to hold off on pottying or be able to potty sanitary, aka potty pad or something like that.

So there's that, a very much oversimplified version on flying with a Service Dog

Hi guys it’s been a while! Admittedly I’m horrible at posting. I’ve got a lot to tell you guys, so first I’m gonna introduce a new addittion to the household.

Meet Ichor the baby Corn snake. He was born July 28th and will be coming home as soon as he’s eating well.

Alright everbody we’ve a few updates! First on the list Athena and Echo. We just finished watching these two sweet pups. Echo and his silly puppy antics and Athena who just wants the love. We had lots of fun playing and had a nice adventure on the 4th. Athena hates fireworks so we went to the country to hang out. Echo has grown so much since I last saw him, in fact he just turned 4!

Also people who have to set fireworks off before or after the fourth!

There are still dangers that can put your dog at risk even after fireworks end.

Search your yard for anything that could be harmful and shouldn't be there. Supervise your dogs. Work on your dog having a solid Leave It or Auto Leave It as well as a solid Recall.

We’ve been in Bangor this entire week pet sitting the amazing Echo and Athena ❤️ we fortunately found out that, this certain place in Bangor was FILLED with strays. after an eventful evening of rescuing a stray cat that got stuck in the dogs pen, we ended up having to get our rabies shot. (something you need in our line of work) It was all worth it! We ended up catching three strays which are now heading in for veterinary assistance. We’ve seen at least (LEAST) two other stray cats so we hope we can catch and help them all. The thought that’s people don’t care enough to proparly take care of their cats is sickening, and when they can’t take care of them they just dump them on the streets. It truly makes me sad. If we can’t care about such innocent creatures, how are we supposed to care for other humans?? (If you can’t care for your animals anymore please find a good home or a no kill shelter to give them a better chance at life. In other words! One of the strays might be having kittens any day now😳😬 guess we’ll have to see lol. Hope you all have a lovely night, and a happy Fourth of July❤️
